Lately, users have been making Plaza a horrible place. We have fallen back down to the reason plaza had a A Fresh Start in the first place.

"3DSPlaza is not what it should be.
A lot of people are acting like n00bs. They are causing drama, trying to be "cool", trying to get attention, don't respect each other, and so on.

3DSPlaza is made to be a community where we can hang out, play games, talk about the 3DS and have fun.
We members should be helping and respecting each other, to make this place a better place..."

This site was temporarily taken offline because of the poor behavior that I see so many users expressing lately. It would be a disappointment to have that happen again, wouldn't it?

Now, I realize that there are many new users since 2012; which is why I'm reviving that article. Not to mention, I'm sick of users being hated on. There's absolutely no reason to be so hateful....It's been causing so much drama lately, and it's completely unnecessary. Stop holding grudges.

"Kids are just too sensitive these days"

That may be true, but that doesn't give an excuse to tease them for it. If the majority of the population is known to be sensitive, that's even more of a reason not to be so rude.

I want us all to remember the solutions given to us in the 2012 Fresh Start.

"-We will respect each other, no matter what. If somebody else does something wrong, we do not get mad, and try to talk about it. If this doesn't work, we will contact a moderator to help us with it."

Please read the entire article here. If you have nothing good to say, don't say it. If you're in a grouchy mood, take it somewhere else until you cheer up. Let's make Plaza what it was supposed to be: A Fun Place. Don't just nod and say "I agree."....Make a change. Even if you think your behavior is good, make it even better!

Let us not forget, your possible rude and insensitive behavior is most likely breaking the rules: Be civil and polite at all times, even if you do not agree with someone.

As a moderator, I surely plan to enforce this rule more than ever before, because I'm sick of all this hateful drama.

I agree 100%. It's really annoying. People swear and stuff nonstop when they're no mods online and the strike system is gone and everything is just out of control.

Mega, you consider yourself a forum dweller, so you probably don't realize the amount of drama that happens everyday in the chats...I doubt Rob was nit-picking 2 years ago when he refreshed the site.

Also, I do plan on warning (note: Warn. strikes no longer exist) users who throw an insult. Why? Because that's clearly against the rules. Just as swearing is...

People are going to argue...They're going to disagree....That's fine, but no one seems to understand that they can disagree in a civil and polite manner. Instead, I see name calling, flame wars, and harassment. Respect should be our first reaction, not offensive downgrading remarks...

You all seem to be entertained by this civil debate...just saying.

Anyway, I understand the the "populated" chats usually don't have much hate going on. Just the other night (in a less-commom chatroom) people were causing drama over being "bullied", and then freaking out for two hours because the troll wouldn't leave the room even though he had be long done trolling....I'm not exaggerating, it was literally for 2 hours. It's ridiculous. This is why I made this thread...this isn't just a message to the trolls, it's a message to the trolled.

I think you're all getting the impression that I don't want kids to be kids... Most people don't have the skills to argue civilly, because our natural reaction is defense; so I don't expect people to mature with a snap of my fingers. I'm a reasonable person who weighs all the angles when it comes to arguments, but it's moments like last night that is happening WAY to often, at least in the rooms I'm in...and it's completely stupid. Why does it happen? First of all, people are highly too sensitive; secondly, people are jerks. These don't mix.

But on the lines of civil arguments...Heat is indeed an "entertainent" factor...that is, if both/all of the people can handle it. Thing is, most people can't handle arguments that go like this:
User1: "the 3ds sux"
User2: "thats stupid the 3ds is awesome, dumbass! you dont kno anything"

This is was causes the flame wars and the word "bully" to be thrown around like a baseball. Which is why the exercise of a bit more respect --On both sides-- is needed.

Yes, this is "the internet". Little trolls are going to do whatever they feel like...(Let's not forget about the pompous teen-agers who always think they're right and are going to be jerks about it) but with use of respect from the "victim", instead of getting defensive and throwing and insult back at the troll/jerk, they can keep their distance and deal with it calmly---or ideally, ignore that user altogether.

If you use "hateful language" but have enough self-control to withhold using it so often...by all means please do. Why does the excuse "It's the internet" make everything okay? Why can't Plaza be that one exception in your internet-browsing-routine where you practice polite mannerisms?

Just because other people won't stop being rude, doesn't mean you can't...

I don't think any of you are reading my posts in entirety. I said that the sensitive users need to learn respect as well...I wont repeat myself from my last post about all that. owo

I've never see anyone debate the 3DS or other game consols anywhere else other than in the 3DS/Gaming forum. Go into any chatroom, and people will tell you this is a social site...which...it is.

Again, I don't expect this place to be candy land and everyone to be sweet little marshmallow bunnies...but I do expect us all to get along to the point that we don't have any ridiculous flame wars. (As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm aware that this will never be a complete reality...however, that's no excuse to throw your hands up and disrespect everyone anyway. We should all strive to be respectful, even if other's don't.)


Also, just to mention: many threads are closed because they could possibly cause (or do cause) drama...Please Don't think I'm nit-picking because of the drama I have to deal with; unfortunately, I can't close chats and pretend it never happened...

I used arguments over the 3DS as an example...I'm not even necessarily talking about gaming-related flame wars. I'm not denying that people talk about games, but social flame wars happen just as often if not more than gaming wars...at least, in the chatrooms that I moderate.

Again, I never said there was anything wrong with debating as long as people don't throw insults around like free candy--and then start a flame war over it.

Yes, moderators are here to help keep things in place...but the point I'm making is, us moderators really shouldn't have to clean up this crap so often. I was hoping some of us could be mature enough to hold our tongues sometimes.

Nobody said there couldn't be debates. All that is asked is instead of lobbing insults as part of the debate, the debaters can be civil:

Jack: "I think Triniate is better than AO."

Jeff: "I disagree, because AO runs more smoothly."

Jack: "I think that doesn't matter because Triniate looks way cooler"


In words: Replace flame, insult-lobbing wars with civil debates with valid points (and evidence).

Does anyone not agree?
