During the first week of modship, it certainly is stressful. "There's a new moderator? Heck naw!" People are asking those newbie questions that other mods won't answer, they're testing how far they can go before you do something about it; and everyone is closely watching you just to see you slip up...However, that only lasts for a week or two before the pressure fades...whether you begin to get used to it or they stop, it will end. I get the occasional obvious qestion, which I'm content to answer. Why? Because I'm happy to help, which I know is an attitude expected from moderators (even if it's not a necessary aspect).
For anyone wanting to be a mod: If you hate the fact that you can never mess around or break a rule here or there, you really shouldn't
I also disagree that you gain nothing from being a mod...From my own personal experience, I believe my personality has benefited...Because of the constant pressure to follow the rules, it inspires me to be a better person...I've had to practice reasonable and logical decision making, as well as reach a welcoming hand out to newbies with those obvious questions, which has built my tolerance for things which I may have previously considered to be annoying. Small character traits, but they can surely enhance your life if you apply them properly.
Now, I'm sure there are mods who might not get any personal character traits from modship, but we all can gain character from anything; even from being a member without privileges...you just have to have the desire to apply it ;P
Moderators (including I) certainly have made mistakes in the past, but you can learn from them and then forget them. I rarely ever see anyone saying: "lul remember that time Mod falsely banned me?" It happens, but the majority of Plaza members aren't going to hold it against you unless it becomes a habit...which, might make you think twice before taking a mod action...to be sure it's a reasonable and Just action.
If you make a mistake bad enough to be brought up more often and have grudges against it....it probably deserves the ridicule....
And finally, when it comes to everyone hating on the ex mod, I think it really depends on how the ex-mod handles their demotion...If they raeg, people are going to think poorly of them; if they're calm and accept the fact, most people will leave them alone...If they're emo about it, they'll likely get hate, too...But hate only lasts for so long (unless you're someone like matttttt--sorry.) but it will go away. Clearly, even the demoted often get remodded sometimes.
But I do understand where you're coming from.
Moderation isn't for everyone. It's still often a stressful task with everyone expected so much from you.

It's like letting the class clown or the student with the worst behavior the duty of being hall monitor. This is why power isn't just handed to you.
You think power is a right. You think power is control over everyone. It's more than that, actually. You think you can just GET moderatorship? No. You can't. No one knows how responsible you are. What you are gonna do with that power of yours.
And Sam, I would like to comment on this. It is true that it is demanding, and a BIG responsibility, but you are looking at the negative side of things. I know it's less freedom, but not everything is free. If this was a "free country", would we have laws? I know, you had moderatorship for less than a day. But without moderators, 3DSPlaza would go rampant with trolls, and griefers. It's like letting a community have no policemen. There would be killing, stealing, all sorts of crimes.
Rob envisioned for 3DSPlaza to be a strong and healthy community, just like God wanted Earth to be- without authority, they would both split apart.

Sam, I feel like what you stated there was a bit true about mods being hated, but it all depends on the person and how they change once becoming of higher status. After being a mod, you won't necessarily be intensely hated. It's not the exact wording, but still, lolz. It actually depends on how the person acts after being a mod. For instance, lets say you knew this person very well, mkay? They become a mod, and GUESS WHAT? You guys barely talk anymore, and when you do, the mod( your friend) gives you attitude, and stuff. SyChOpHoBe calls this "The Mod Cycle", and it's true. They change, and they feel like because they're in a higher status, it isn't worth talking to you anymore. But we must keep in mind that everyone is different, and that not everyone changes once becoming a mod.
