This is the voice of many users, it's what most users want in a mod. This is not meant to hurt anyone's feelings and I apologize if you're butthurt offended by the truth. This is mostly aimed toward chat mods. I'm pretty sure a majority of them would say "Pfft. Little5 is just trying to become a mod" or some crap like that.
Anyways, here's a few things we would all like in mods:

1. They should be online a lot, and online in the day of many time zones.
I'm not saying that mods have to be on 24/7, nor am I saying they shouldn't take a break sometimes. Notice how lots of mods aren't online when there are rule breakers. They found the time where mods aren't online. This should also be taken into consideration before someone is modded.

2. They go into the forums, and chats
We needed people who are fast reacting. They can easily close a thread, and react to problems quickly. We also need people are actually active in both forums and chats. They need to engage in the community.

3. No biasing who you ban, no "chances" other than those warning.
No, I'm not screaming Favortism, but this is pretty much true. I can think of many instances where people have been insulted (which is against the rules) and they weren't even warned. Most of these insultings happen between a popular user, and a newer/less popular user. I've even seen when someone tried to DEFEND a user yet they got bullied/insulted and they were warned. This happens with other rules too.

4. They aren't banned a lot, and they don't break rules. They also aren't "mean" and try to help others.
This is very important (it was meant to be number 3). I'm not saying mods have to help EVERYONE, but they do need to TRY to help. I often see newer users asking for help, and they don't get it. As with the first part.. Why would you mod someone who breaks rules a lot. Does that set a very good example to newer users?

5. Don't be too strict. 3DSPlaza is already getting boring. Still apply to the rules though.
This pretty much speaks for it's self, and I'm sure all of you agree. Mods ARE too strict these days.

*EXTRA*
Be active in the communities. Try to engage in the conversation and don't just lurk for rule breakers. You don't want to be the mean ole' mod who just bans and warns all the time.

Now, watch this be closed by a mod. Claiming that this is
A. Bashing them
B. Claiming that mods don't do their jobs
C.
D. Flamewar inducing
E. Other

Sticky Request+1

Very good rules. Moderators should follow these.

I'm not sure If that's aimed towards me in sarcasm or..

I might sticky this if popular demand. However, I'll also have to see if this causes any flamewar.

"This is bashing something clearly idiotic"

So you're saying that chat mods are clearly idiotic?

Just stop, please

1) Every chat moderator knows this is how we're supposed to act; we don't need you telling us.
2) Every mod follows this already, and if not, we get the same punishment as users.
3) We're required to be on, every mod is aware that if they're not on, they get the boot.
4) There are exclusively CHAT and FORUM mods for a reason. We won't go into both.
5) We call out bias on each other, and if we don't, SHAME. Everyone is biassed, though.
6) Really? We're NEVER banned and the only rules mods really break is the insulting and bypassing rules. Mods DO yell at them for it.
7) Being nice? Don't be mean? No comment.
8) We're strict on those who deserve it.
9) If you think this place is boring, while we're doing our best to fix up the place in ways, get out..? Leave? Don't suffer yourself.
10) This is all common sense on how to behave and every mod is aware of this.

Stickied!
Yeah, sure. I'll keep it stickied for now. Can be really helpful.

Oh, in addition, this is being moved to This Plaza.

Moved.
little5 (2014-03-30 13:18:31)
@Aleks

6) I mean before you become a mod. So you're saying mods aren't banned for breaking the rules? Shouldn't they get a higher punishment since they're of higher authority?

7) Aren't new users supposed to be able to come to others for help?

8) That can be biased. I can name one user who always breaks one specific rule, they never get warned.

9) If you were doing trying to fix this place up, you'd at least take this into consideration.

4) Does that not mean every mod should engage in the community?

2&6) You're basically saying you break rules, but you don't get punishments. Then saying you break rules and get punishments.. Wat.

Is it that you can't handle the truth?

Sam, it looks like that post was about yourself. At least Little5 makes a coherent argument and doesn't try to act older than she really is.

You basically try to fit as many "grown-up words" into a sentence as you can. You change your attitude completely when it comes to other topics. Half of us can see through your "edgy" disguise, but we don't say anything because you're a kid and we'd rather leave you be.

I would respect your close request if you actually supported it with points from what Little5 said. But instead you just bashed her with half-assed 4chanesque insults.

I'm not going to reply if you try to argue with me. I'm not your enemy. I just wish your argument had some sort of rhyme or reason.

People also shouldn't have to go the forums to look at "your own" personal Courtier. Tell SomeLuigi to put it back on the Chat Select page and have this thread closed. It's slightly stupid to keep stuff about chat mods, especially something oh so important like a flipping guideline, in the forums, where some chatters don't even go.
little5 (2014-03-30 13:25:11)

@Aleks, note how this is aimed toward chat mods, not chatters.

Mods should try to engage in the community. If they don't, they won't see it..

@Sam I completely agree with Kishy.

The community reaches out to what WE believe would make our community more fun and fair too us. Yet we get rejected?
Mephistopheles (2014-03-30 13:28:22)
Plaza isn't a democracy, Little5. I'm sorry to say. Even in a democracy not all opinions will be accepted.

You tried, but this is just how it is.
