How would you describe a user that's 'Mod Material'?

In other words, what makes a good mod?
TwilightWinter (2014-08-30 21:41:52)
That moderator should not be a Justin Bieber, simple.

To describe a user that's mod material..

1. Be active. At least at most hours of the day.

2. No alting, unless you have permission from a moderator.

3. Don't insult another plazian, because that is against the rules.

4. Don't spam chats/forums/any other part of the site.

5. Don't encourage users to break the rules just because they're just text on the internet.

6. Do not provoke users, ever.

7. Assist one another. Help out a user, welcome new users to the chats, forums, etc.

8. Never harass a user in PMs. I know PMs stand for personal messaging, but PMs are for whatever but harass. You can online date all you want (Yeah that's right, go ahead online date, faggots.)

I think I am forgetting some.

I answered this question in Infliction9's profile.
Language is a tool for efficient communication. The internet is a tool for fast communication. Do not defy both intents by posting incoherent writing.

In all seriousness, I think good "mod material" would be maturity, humbleness, reasoning, and generally having moral standards to stay consistent to.
This means it shouldn't be someone who breaks the rules often or even at all; someone who doesn't raeg and start drama when something doesn't go their way; someone who isn't easy to provoke; and someone who understands and respects the rules.

To expand some more on what I meant about moral standards:
If a moderator has no problem with inappropriate content, swearing, insulting, etc...they're not going to be able to efficiently enforce those rule(s). Firstly, it makes them a hypocrite and secondly they're not going to have strong standards of what is inappropriate (or swearing or insulting or etc.) unless it's straight up obvious or if people complain about it.
If a moderator is being even slightly inappropriate, that makes a bad example and other users willl think it's okay to be inappropriate, too.

Of course, no one is a perfect angel out there; but I don't think inappropriateness/swearing/insulting should be such a "gray area" for moderators...if it is, they're probably not good mod material.
You can have your own private life of swearing and insulting and looking at NSFW; but if you don't have enough self-control to keep it away from here, that's not moderator suitable.
"Good standards" can be as simple as respecting the rules and sacrificing personal preferences to enforce them.

Some of you people take this website too seriously...
carlos11 (2014-08-31 16:57:17)
Humble my ass.

Aha, I knew I forgot some more.

9. Don't talk about inappropriate subjects, because there's obviously kids in this community.

10. Never cuss, even if you're quoting something from somewhere. Try to avoid getting warned by replacing the word with something else such as "crap" or "BS."

11. Do not go into the chats asking for a girlfriend/boyfriend. Unless you're trolling, seriously? The rules are right above the chats. So there is no need to suddenly break a rule like that if you're supposedly new.

12. Don't make a thread that is trash-talking related to a user. That's insulting, and discriminative. You will go to jail for doing so.

Hmm..

What? Those are all terrible, and most of them no-brainers.

I don't know why, but him going "hmmmm.." pissed me off
SackThing101 (2014-09-01 00:02:15)
Stuff.
Jason2k14 (2014-09-01 01:34:24)
@AntiChrist hmmm..

Carlos, they are on the rules anyway, so.

carlos11 (2014-09-01 02:39:45)
Exactly. You could have just said "follow the rules" and then added some virtue not mentioned in the rules that separates users like me from the peasants.

A good mod should have humor and not complain all the time.

Oh, and follow the rules to some extent. I forgot about that one.
