@mega
You're also ignoring my point. I said games doesn't need pretty graphics, realistic elements, or anything like that. If the gameplay is amazing, then it will rock. And everything what Link106 said. Then I list examples of games like that and you completely go off topic and say random crap.

I doubt it we'll be laughing at how bad the graphics were. The huge leap of graphics are basically over. Plus I wouldn't see 1080p in maxed out graphics considering a newer standard that surpasses 1080p has been announced not that long ago.

A game doesn't need to be pretty to be good

Also, Cevat Yerli (I think thats his name.) said that graphics are 60% of a game.

Crytek, you are insane..

I honestly didn't expect so many comments, glad for the discussion, thanks everyone.

But a lot of comments are talking about graphics vs. gameplay. This thread has nothing to do with that, this is purely a discussion about graphics and how they can get better, and what next gen and beyond will bring to the table in that regard.

You guys hate TLOU? Shame, I love that game.

@Elitekiller-TLOU is the best looking PS3 game, Naughty Dog squeezed every drop of power out of the system to make it. Snow clings to characters clothing, weeds sprout out of the ground and lily pads float on water. It looks absolutely amazing. You have to examine the graphics for flaws and all I managed to find were a couple of jagged shadows and wooden boards, just a few blemishes in a 16 hour long campaign. Obviously the graphics don't look as good in the Multiplayer, but it's nothing to sniff at.

The Last of Us is one of the few games that made me wish I was allowed to play M-rated games.

First you'd have to get a PS3. I wouldn't let the M rating bother you, in a few (Or less) years you'll be able to play, and it's not like the game is going anywhere. PS4 will probably have PS3 streaming by then as well so you won't even need a PS3 in that case.

I think TLOU will be one of the few games with graphics we won't be laughing at in five years.

@mega-If COD is the only M game you've played lately I can see why you don't like them. Ratings now have zero effect on me. If a game is good, I'll play it. The best games out there however (imo) tend to be T-M.

With graphics, open world games will see a huge leap. Lot of problems with open world games on current gen. Gallop on a horse full speed through Boston in Assassin's Creed III and you'll get my point. Or just climb a tall building and look out at the harbor.

We all know MGSV is going to be the graphics king. Look at that beard in an earlier trailer. LOOK.

More than two years ago, my dad said I can play M-rated games in an year. (One year from when he told me) And yet....

Anyways, eventually I'll be able to play, and I will definitely pick up The Last of Us. I'm also considering an Assasin's Creed game and maybe even Grand Theft Auto 5.

Graphics only take up a small portion of the ratings I believe.
Also Mega, IMO, I don't think that M-rated games being dropped would only slightly change gaming, it would be huge, because even kids own M-rated games.

@Tetris-I said get ready for an essay, did I not?

@Ron-I'd recommend the Ezio trilogy, it's Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood and Revelations on 1 disc. You can get it for $39.99 or less. Also, get AC III, it's price will drop like a rock once AC IV comes out. I got it for $20 during the PS3 summer sale.

@mega-I can name at least 10 good M games that came out this year.

Bioshock: Infinite
The Last of Us
Tomb Raider
GTA V
Saints Row IV
Shin Megami Tensei IV
Crysis 3
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate
And...out today...Beyond: Two Souls (Which looks fun, I should say)
Perfect_Chaos (2013-10-09 03:26:23)
Dead Rising 2, funnest game on Earth.
