Most people ask because of the power, if you ask it just shows you're not putting enough work as a user. You can't just ask and expect to be one, be responsible and a good user. But the difference would be they do that to be a good user, others do it just to become a mod. You don't find them, they find you.

Well, I have been drawn in to this forum, somehow someway. Boredom? Feeling of emptiness? No.
The name of the forum, the fun of reading people's thoughts, and insight.
Now if you're thinking "Wow, rambling and off topic."
Is it? The name of it, a quite striking question, "Why do you want to be a moderator?"
Now if you take what I said of why I'm here, apply that. Should not mods be like that?
To actually answer, see, being a mod to me is not for power, trolling, 'popularity' or 'awesomeness'.
Being a mod you need good morals, you need to be truthful, seek justice, you need a good integrity, you need a tough skin, be calm, respect, teach, guide, learn, and I can go on. All of these, certain people possess. A majority lack this. I for one believe I am of the few that model that life, and may there be ridiculing comments, I am a devout Christian.
I have been a mod on things before on sites, or games (an infamous game Minecraft on popular servers). How did I get that? I set my mind and fixed myself on a goal. I worked and strived. I was not new either. Being new does not give much, as you must build trust, the showing of who you are, etc.. Now for 3DSPlaza, I've been here for probably 2 1/2 - 3 years. Have I been promoted? No. Have I complained? No. Do I wish? Yes. So I work for that.
When I graduate school and then get masters in Criminal Justice, I'm going into State Police. I love helping, serving, guiding, the leadership role, to acquit and condemn, justice.
I think this site should have a application submission, to give us the chance to be accpted, proven, and viewed at the very least.
That my friends, is why I would like to be a mod, and what I see a mod should possess.

From my point of view, being a mod.... huh. Let's put it this way: If you make a good mod, people like you. Your moderatorship doesn't bother anybody. You get popular, your job isn't that bad, etc.
