Look, can't we just accept the fact that this thread is solely based around things that alot of mods are lacking lately? I've seen alot of mods avoiding these specific things little5 has just mentioned. And they all got demoted. This thread is something that can help the community. Little5 is not saying that mods are bad, she's just listing opinions that would help some newer mods.

Mods ARE chatters.
Aleks (2014-03-30 13:33:30)
If this thread is oh so great, PUT IT IN THE CHAT SELECT WHEN OLIVIER COMES BACK.
little5 (2014-03-30 13:59:02)

AND Chat mods too.

Please settle down the flamewar or this thread will be locked (but not unsticked since it was sticked for a reason).

I don't care who started it, just stop, please.

Hello
Lani (2014-04-01 16:47:03)
Okay...So...

As Aleks said, moderators already know this. Those who don't apply to basic and obvious mod rules get demoted...Which means there aren't many mods (if any) who are breaking your guidelines...so I can't really see the point in this...

I think a better suggestion would be moderation guidelines for "complicated" situations.
(Ex.)
1.When to unban someone you didn't ban
2. Whether you ban the alt, or take their word for it when they say it's their sibling.
3. When to take action during arguments.
Etc etc....

These are all things that mods (at least I) commonly have to deal with, and each mod deals with it differently...I think it's during moments like these that users get frustrated with mods, rather than just "That mod was mean to me". Since it's not always a straight forward Swear 3 times = Ban and more likely Provoking = Ban (A mod's definition of "provoking" can widely vary), everyone gets in a fuss over what's legitimate or not.
Therefore, if something really needs to be done about mods, it should be a detailed moderation guide, written by an admin.

I'm not trying to sound rude. I can understand where you're coming from, but most mods don't want to hear "Mod Rules" from an average user who's never experienced moderating on Plaza before...So if you want something to really be done, I'd suggest talking to SL or Sack if the majority of users really don't think the mods are adequate.

I personally don't think there's an issue with moderators in general...Yes, there's likely one or two who could use a little buffing (might even include me) but overall I think users are expecting too much from fellow human beings.

As for me, if you think I'm being unreasonable in the way I moderate please tell me personally instead of putting it in a general forum thread...I hope other mods would agree that correction is necessary, but we all think we're doing things right. No one is going to consider themselves violating the "fruits of the mod spirit" list if there are no personal examples... q:

I hope you know these aren't "rules" just simply suggestions. I can understand where you're coming from.

I'm just saying things that should be a little picked up.. This isn't meant to offend. :/ @Lani

Btw, I'm not saying that the chat mods are the worst of all the mods if you think I am. All the "mod groups" have flaws.. Weaknesses and strengths. I'm just listing the things that the majority of chat mods do that should be fixed.

The mods on here seem legit.
I haven't seen one abuse their power yet.
Yet.
YET.

@Lani I agree. There does need to be a moderation guide, because some moderators don't understand what to do in various situations, and things can go wrong.

Lol.

It's funny to see that the people who are saying the Chat Mods actually do their jobs, are the same users who get "special treatment" from them.

Connor makes a VERY good point, its called favorism.
