In my opinion, we have too many moderators that are obsessed with the fact that they are moderators, some even developing a massive superiority complex. Sure, they claim that it isn't true, but anyone with an IQ higher than 20 can see right through those laughable statements they make in an effort to look mature.
It's OK to have moderators that are mildly immature, ones that admit they love the fact that they ae moderators, as it makes them feel important.
My main point is; those who deny these things tend to be god awful moderators who like to ruin the reputatons of those they hold grudges against, are quick to assume that someone is questioning their authority,inteligence, or just plain disrespecting them. They act lije they don't care about people disliking them, yet they start drama over it, claiming, and probably believing themselves that it was the other person, the "immature" guy, the "bad" guy, the "troll", the "guy that wishes he was a mod" , that started the drama.
In extreme cases, the mods who act his way start to believe that each and every user they are not friends with that merely approach them are out to get said moderator. They also assume that everybody is sucking up to them, that everyone gives a crap that they are a moderator. They start to think that every opinion on them, everything said about them, or simply the way people react towards, and talk towards them, all have something to do with them being a moderator.
Someone disagrees with them? They assume it has something to do with the fact that they are a moderator.
Around a year and a half ago, on a different account, I once overheard a former moderator talking in the chat about some problem se was having. I decided to give her some advice. What reply did I get?
"You don't have to suck up to me. I'm not a moderator anymore. lol "
It was the most obnoxious response I've ever been given to try and be a little helpful. She pretended to be humble and whatnot, by repeatedly talking about how she isn't a moderator anymore in the chats, but I could see right through that BS. She knew everyone thught she was important, and she loved it.
Some moderators even think they are intimidating, which is the most cringe inducing thing I've witnessed on this website. Whenever a person is cyber bullying a friend of theirs, they start talking all macho and whatnot in an overexaggeratedly angry tone. They think they sound heroic and brave, but they actually sound what they absolutely can not stand being caled under any circumstances. Immature.
This may be what naturally happens when young people gain power, but it's not like the admins shouldn't even TRY finding smarter people to select as moderators, ones hat won't let that small amount of power go to their heads. This is such an onvious problem. When will it be acknowledged?
