Okay, all of my evidence I got from research and in-game experience, blah blah blah, the theory.

By now, everyone has heard that FNAF2 is actually a prequel, and while that may seem confusing, you have to consider that at the end, along with your pay check is a newspaper that says that Freddy's is closing and moving to a new location. The old animatronocs were to be used there due to budget cuts, and the "new" ones in FNAF2 would be sold as scrap.All of hat is said in the newspaper at the end.

So yeah, FNAF2 is definitely a prequel.

Now, how and why do those animatronics move around and try to attack you at night? ...well, here goes nothing.

Based on the phone calls from FNAF2 and FNAF, Freddy Fazbears has a dark past that is hinted at throughout the game. In one of the halways in FNAF, there is a poster that hanges from newspaper clippings to a set of rules, one of whih is stay close to mom. Remember that one.

One of the employees used an old costume in FNAF2 to lure some children (5 in total) away from thier parents and into a back room, where he locked the door and murdered them. Now, it's disputed whether the murderer actually shoved the children into the suits and thats why they "smell and look" the way they do (hinted at in the game as corpses), or it really was just because tthey'd gone 20 years without a bath. Idk. But one things for sure, the spirits of all five children haunt the animatronics. We will discuss why they are evil spirits later.

of course, the classic four are bonnie, chica, foxy and freddy, but golden freddy is the only one who said "it's me." Thats because the spirit inside of golden freddy had a mother who went insane trying to avenge the death (or, as the phone guy states, "dissapearance"of her son. Golden Freddy kept trying to tell her when she came looking that it was him, but it got her killed. Her spirit haunts the Marionette, and acts in a motherly fasion to all the spirits.

okay, so not only does the marionette want vengance for her son, but so do the other children for themselves. They knew it was an employee who was seperated from everyone who killed them, so at night they roam around looking for the killer. During he bite of '87, the guard that had been sent to day shift in FNAF2 was attacked and lost part of his frotal lobe...the part that controls memory? Maybe?

Memory problems...like, severe enough to keep coming back to this job, even though you know how dangerous it is?

And why would Foxy attack, unless...he had new facial recognition technology that...

Do you see where I'm going...? The security guard was the one who killed those children, showing up one day for night shift and leading them away before they closed. He killed them, then requested day shift once he spirits started acting up. He got it, but as he guarded the children, Foxy took a chance and bit him. Losing his short term memory and only remembering what it was like before the haunted animatronics, mike (as the internet has dubbed him) goes back to work there.

The mask protects you from the facial recognition, but the marionette doesn't need it to attack. Foxy, as well, knows who you are, since he is the one who bit you, and wont soon forget you if you just put on a mask.

The only thing I cant explain is baloon boy. Is he haunted by spirits, too? Or maybe not?
