And a man with skill and evil intentions can kill a lot more people with a knife or a bit of thread than an unprovoked peaceful, law-abiding citizen would with a rifle. It's entirely dependant on who's wielding a tool which defines it as a sword or shield. Remember, good people are clever and ingenious. Evil people are doubly so. Evil manipulates and hurts to get what it wants.
little5 (2015-10-26 21:37:35)Soldiers and policemen aren't just regular old citizens. They're law-enforcers and defendants of our country. Even then, it's kind of rare for a soldier (unless they're overseas) or a policeman to have to use their gun almost daily. Carry it, yes, incase the time comes.
A hunter, yeah I guess. They shouldn't be walking around with their guns out, though.

If someone ran up and started threading people to death in public, how much harder would it be to stop him than someone shooting some gun long-range.

Now, let's highlight a key part that most people leave out of their arguments regarding Second Amendment rights:

The Second Amendment covers the right to bear arms for a well regulated Militia, where we defend ourselves from other nations or groups that mean harm to our country. This was after America gained their independence from Great Britan, and we wanted to make sure we were ready to defend our new-found country from others.
There's more to the Second Amendment than "the right to bear arms". Gun regulation is not going against the Bill of Rights if there is mention of a "well regulated Militia." I doubt all firearms would be illegal here in 'Murica, but maybe it might need to be considered.
And before you mention knives or bats being used as alternatives, let's wait to hear about 20 kids and 6 adults getting killed by someone who went and stabbed a school up. There have been major stabbings, but the fatality rate is lower than someone who can land bullets into innocent bystanders.
You won't see me here, but you might find me if you look in the right places.

As for everyone, stop blaming the bloody gun when someone flies off the rail. We don't blame bombs for bombings, why can't we be mature enough to call out the evil people that shoot up these places?
little5 (2015-10-26 22:43:44)People do blame bombs for bombings in a way, it's just that bombs can be made from very easily-obtained materials with multiple uses, like cleaning. Most people don't buy bombs, they make them. And you don't see bombs being sold at your everyday bombstore. Guns are made to kill.

It'd be far easier, far cheaper, far safer, and much more ethical to to regulate the possession of weapons than regulate the contents of every single citizens' heart in the country? Would you like to have an intruding government so you can continue to play with your toys?

How about we stop raising a society of 'oh, woe is me, someone yelled at me so I hate them now' or 'I deserve payment for every nail I break because I'm super-fluffing special?' Maybe if we taught our children morals, personal responsibility, and stopped having them act entitled to every damn thing, we can maybe see a less violent society as a whole who wouldn't pick off a school just cos 'someone looked at me funny' or, most recently, 'they don't believe in what I believe in.' Food for thought.

Other than feeding, housing, clothing, and sending your kids to school, there are no laws regulating how your child develops. I don't even know why you brought up the Bible. Morally straight children can obviously be raised outside of any sort of Christian gospel.
