Yes, as much as I dislike the movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is considered a classic, and is easy to reference, at least. I could also say the Rocky & Bullwinkle movie (brownie points if you know who they are, bonus points if you've actually seen the movie) or the Alvin movies (LOL, no), but even Deadpool pulled it off awesomely with Colossus.
Too Long; Did not Read! It happens often, and generally works well, even if the movie ain't perfect.

@Dreamer, I find the bone cousins extremely adorable, soooo...
@Flux, think the kind of style that Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and other films use. Thorn, Rose, and Lucius (played by Evancho, White and Goodman respectively) would be live-action characters in a CG-enhanced world, while the Bones, dragons, etc., would be completely animated. No problem with that, as far as I can tell.
