"Super"villian's can be very smart when it comes to creating weapons, but a majority of them are stupid enough to revile their plan and so they get defeated so easily. What's sad is that they don't learn from that very mistake.
If they don't say it then most would've got away with it.

Can I just have powers I use for myself, like to get money through maipulating luck and winning the lottery? Do I have to have some affiliation? If I had super powers I wouldn't be a hero or a villain, i'd probably just use them for my own convenience.

Like maybe sometimes you use it for selfish motives but then sometimes use it for helping someone, idk.

Superheros only exist to save people. Supervillains exist for deep meanings of concept. Say for instance a villain who had his arm severed by a cult leader, this supervillain could go on to take down this cult and later use that power to end politically large groups to test a theory. Then again it's fiction.
