I mentioned global moderation should be considered, because it is indeed not necessarily a flawless idea. I can imagine some chat mods who would close a thread just because someone asks them to...but like I said, more thought would have to go into who is promoted if global moderation became a reality.
I wouldn't be too concerned about chat mods screwing everything up, though....if a more clear "how 2 form mud" guide was submitted in the mod sub forum, they'd all probably catch on pretty quickly.
But who knows, there probably could still be chat-only mods.

JaronTheFireCat (2015-05-15 01:30:12)Actually, I can never disagree with Leviathan starting these debates.
"At least without raging and D3000ing everybody." Beat example of misinformation, rumor-fueling, and exaggeration. All in one simple sentence.

Leviathan (2015-05-15 01:32:23)I am just going to let you figure out what I actually said, Jaron.
I'm an open book, there are few questions I won't answer honestly, no matter how embarrassing.
JaronTheFireCat (2015-05-15 01:35:21)Oh, yeah. I think stating that Carlos will use the Deleter on everyone is what you actually said. And I understood perfectly.

carlos11 (2015-05-15 01:38:56)Only qualified people should be global moderators. Someone such as yourself, Lani. The way your idea would be implemented is NOT by making EVERYONE global moderators, but by considering existing moderators and choosing those who are perceived as qualified to become global mods. For example, ChampionLeake is very helpful in the forums and knows how to work with profiles. Antichrist is frequently seen in the chatrooms and I trust he knows the rules.
Jaron, I don't think Leviathan understands that this is a formal setting and his behavior is both offensive and inappropriate. Be careful when speaking to him.

Language is a tool for efficient communication. The internet is a tool for fast communication. Do not defy both intents by posting incoherent writing.
carlos11 (2015-05-15 01:52:59)I'm not misunderstanding. What's happening is that you're overlooking the underlying factor that makes stepping over boundaries likely, and that's activity. If I used the forums and the forums only, then there would be no reason to even consider me for global mod. There is virtually no chance that I would one day casually step outside of the forums and see someone breaking major rules and no one there to stop it. Do you see where I'm getting at? Activity is directly associated with the problem we're discussing now involving stepping over boundaries. The more a moderator uses a certain part of the website, the more likely that mod is to come across material that needs to be moderated. We currently have moderators that use multiple parts of the website but do not have moderator privileges in those parts of the website (I myself being the most notable). Therein lies the problem.

carlos11 (2015-05-15 02:02:05)Consider what that would entail. It could mean the end of my "Mr. Nice Guy" policies. It would most likely result in my reforming and redefining how forum mods should moderate. Users would be held accountable for breaking rules and punished, something I don't do now because I cannot.
This, however, is how it is supposed to be.

JaronTheFireCat (2015-05-15 02:16:30)I think that forum mods should be able to strike again, even after the old striking system was trashed after the February 2014 crash.
Either that or have forum-specific chat commands.
carlos11 (2015-05-15 02:35:54)I think you may have skimmed through the important posts, Benny.

JaronTheFireCat (2015-05-15 02:38:21)^ Having Ben agree that forum mods need the obsolete striking system makes me feel special.
Also, 123rd post.

JaronTheFireCat (2015-05-15 02:49:39)They are important factors to the off-topic subject we're talking about.
Nutsy (2015-05-15 02:58:58)The only off topic post was the banana peel.

Yeah I'm perfectly calm. Saying you're a douchebag doesn't make me not calm dude.
Still its not like I would expect you to not shift the blame on to me. That would be a non-Carlos thing to do.
