Introduction
Hey guys! I was bored and decided to make a review of something nice and simple like a VC game, so I chose Kirby's Dream Land. Is it good or bad? Read on!

Story
Ok....basically King Dedede steals everyone's food, and Kirby has to get it back. Its a gameboy game what did you expect. Well, its better than nothing.
Graphics
For a gameboy game, Kirby's Dreamland has decent graphics. The sprites actually look like things, not just random blobs like in Super Mario Land. Not to mention it also has(for a gameboy game)detailed backgrounds. I give the graphics a nice thumbs up.
Gameplay
This game has nice simple gameplay. Inhale enemies, spit them out, repeat. Often you will also jump(or fly) around platforms. At the end of each level there is a boss. Most are pretty easy because they just repeat the same attack, and with the restore point feature its even easier. This game is super easy, however when you beat it you unlock a "hard" mode.

Controls
A button is jump.
B button is inhale/spit out.
D-pad/Circle pad is move.
Nice simple controls typical of a gameboy game.
Sound
This game has nice charming music that will make you want to smile, that is typical of all Kirby games. It also has sound effects like Kirby swallowing and spitting out enemies. Overall, good sound.
Content
This is where the game falls flat on its face. You can beat it in under an hour. Sure there is "hard" mode, but its the exact same thing.....just, well harder. This wouldn't be a problem if it was priced at, say 1.99. But this game is a whopping 3.99. There are dozens of cheap 1.99 dsi ware games that have double the content this game has.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a decent platformer with good graphics for a gameboy game and nice sound. However you will beat this in under an hour and be left bored, and this in no way justifies the 4 dollar price tag.

1) Unrelated Comment: Super Mario Land was admitted to being a step back to 8-bit, but it was a start, considering the Game Boy had JUST COME OUT.

2) Sure, it's easy, but that's what spurs the "play it again and again" feeling. You'll develop more strategy by remembering where things are, as well as better remembering attack patterns of bosses. Plus, though it's not challenging, it's still fun.

3) Though the handhelds attracted everyone, they also MORE attracted the kids. Think about it: What kinds of games did the Game Boy Color have? Other than Pokemon Red and Blue, there weren't many notably challenging games (at least, none that were challenging on purpose ) My sister had, I believe, a few Powerpuff Girls games and a game based off of the Lizzie McGuire TV show. I had a Tonka® game, a game based off of Rugrats In Paris: The Movie, the Game and Watch Gallery game, and a Spongebob game. Not very non-child-oriented games, right? Sure, the Game Boy had a few Legend of Zelda games, the Donkey Kong Game Boy game (which spurred the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series) and Super Mario Land 2, but what else?

4) This was the first Kirby game. What did you expect? Robot Unicorns flying at you every 2 seconds? They hadn't even come up with Kirby's signature Copy Ability yet!

Jeez@pooface-no need to spazz out. A 5/10 isn't terrible you know. Also gameboy games can offer more than "bite sized servings" see games like Super Mario Land 2, pokemon red/blue, and the original Links Awakening. So calm down.

A 5 isn't as low as you think. A 5 is not terrible, its mediocre. 1-4 would be bad, 5 average, 6-10 good. Of course 6-7 would be a bit closer to average.

Yeah, well you sort of went berserk. I didn't realize you guys would react so strongly just cause I gave it a 5/10. The truth is I deeply regret purchasing this game. It was fun for an hour and then turned sour. I made a rhyme!

Well, the entire point of the Virtual Console is that they take the original game from the NES/Super NES (Wii) or from the GB or GBC (3DS), with all of its old-timey flaws, and port it to the Wii/3DS using a SOOPER SEKRIT MAJIKAL POWAH (aka some sort of special emulating device). If the game's too boring or short, blame the 1980s.
