Nin10dude789 (2015-04-20 14:42:20)The way I'm going to punish my children is not taking away their electronic devices, instead, I'll take away their chargers, that way they'll use it less to save battery and the device slowly dying.

Ianite (2015-04-20 15:06:12)I would be extremely strict with my future children. It depends more or less if they are complete idiots or not.
I can't make any certainties....I can plan how I want to raise my kids and expect to have all my little ducklings lined up, but when reality strikes that's probably not going to happen.
Also, having the mentality that children are born innocent angels is an unrealistic opinion. Though it's true that parents set examples for their children, the most moral parents are still going to have a selfish, snobby child if they don't raise them not to be. I've spent my time around many different children through babysitting, and I know for a fact that no matter how nice and humble the parents are, we're all selfish pigs by nature.
Just watch any two year old, or even 5 year old...they're always testing authority...pushing their limits to see what they can get away with. They know when they do something wrong (because you've already told them 5 times before), and they're not going to stop if there's no consequences.
Even though they may be naturally selfish, they still have empty minds at young ages.....and this is what I find so interesting about little kids. They do have still an innocence persay....they still have everything to learn, and can't theorize their own world view yet.
So anyway, that being said, I'm going to be sure my child(ren) are taught morals and good manners. I'm only going to be strict if I have to be....they'll have a chance to do things the easy way, but if they don't comply I'll have to be strict. For the sake of my children and anyone else who meets them, being strict to ensure that they're well-behaved is what I believe is the best thing a parent can do.
I'll probably homsechool my children until either junior high or high school....I don't want them to be around poor examples their whole childhood, and I want to be the one who actually raises MY children, not the government...and I honestly think pre-school/kindergarten is one of the cruelist things you can do to such a young person.
When they're teens, I'll be slowly loosening the leash...giving them more freedoms and letting them make their own decisions. At that age, they're probably not going to listen to me anyway, but either way they need the practice thinking for themselves.
I like the way my parents raised me, for the most part...I'll probably follow their example, except for one thing....There are times I wish I could talk to my mother about how I feel or the things I want, but I'm scared to. Whenever I would try it before, she'd usually scowl or make me feel disappointed. I don't ever want my kids to be scared to talk to me...I don't plan on throwing a fit if my rebel teen comes home with a tattoo (hope I'd raise them better than that, though). I want to be that mother figure who is loving and caring, yet always taught you what was right even if that meant learning it the hard way. I don't want to be strict to excercise dominance, I want to be strict because I love them enough that I want them to be respectable people when they grow up.
Geez, that was long. :I It's probably obvious I've been thinking this through, a lot.
Boo (2015-04-20 15:18:44)I'll make a fire truck and princess bunk bed with a slide for them both. I'll reward them for everything good they do. If they do bad I'll restrict them. If they get bullied I'll make tgat son of a gun cry. If they bully however they're gonna see Hell allll over again.
oof
One of the main things I'll make an effort to teach to my children is that the world doesn't revolve around their emotional state. Empathy is a very important thing to develop.
"You're in a public area and someone just stole your toy? If you throw a tantrum and be a nuisance to everybody else, then why should I care? Be considerate of others, put them first and keep your emotions under control. Otherwise, I will not be acknowleging your emotions."
If my kid hurts sombody, the kid gets a spanking.
If my kid steals, the kid's things get taken away.
Putting yourself in the place of sombody else will not be hard for them to do by nature if they are taught this way.
If you keep giving your kid sympathy, even by saying "I understand you are upset, but..." it will still most likely make them believe that their emotional state justifies any of they're actions. We don't want our kids saying "I destroyed someone's property because I was angry at you" now, do we?
Nutsy (2015-04-21 03:08:39)There's not a concrete answer.
Ideally, as long as they're relatively quiet and the house is clean, they can play their hearts out. I won't tolerate them disrespecting me or their mother. Asking questions about why I want them to do a certain thing is fine, and hell, I'll even listen to their input since kids can have great ideas. I won't even mind if they straight up question my authority, since age doesn't bring any sort of authority. That's not really disrespect the way I see it. I want to encourage them to ask questions.

For those who want to get married and want children, how would you treat your kids?
Children are innocent creatures and the reason why kids misbehave and become stupid adults is because of their parents and none of these 5yr olds deserve the 'naughty step'. But what do you think? How would you treat your children?
