What is considered too random for the miscellaneous section? For example, when the Apple thread was created, there was a pear thread, an orange thread, etc and people said that all that was necessary was simply a fruit thread, which everyone agrees with and took action.

Now, the shack threads being made are causing complaints. Should I close some or all of those, or leave them. What makes a thread pointless enough to get closed, in your opinion? It is important that us moderators know.

I think a thread that's useless enough to be closed is one asking you to do a certain thing (ie. "share da luv" ) rather than trying to provoke a discussion ("discuss MLP" "[insert question here]" ). Also, repitition plays a major role here, I mean, there's very little you can say about each individual fruit in their respective thread besides describe why you like it, how it tastes, looks, feels, etc., and there's only so much you can do in threads that ask of an action from you. Whereas in a fruit thread, you could debate why each fruit is better.

I hope I'm making sense here. It really depends.

If it creates discussion it's not useless, right? Then by that logic, nothing is pointless as you can create a discussion about absolutely anything, however in my opinion a lot of these threads which aren't being closed are just being made for a laugh, stuff like the 'Love shack' it doesn't really make sense how do we love one another, it was made for a joke.

My "job" isn't about making sure there are only topics in the forums that I or Robdeprop sees suitable. The purpose of moderators being assigned is to make sure the forums are enjoyable for the community so that people don't start hating them and leave. Does spam get deleted because Robdeprop personally is annoyed by it? No, but because nobody wants their forums to be just a bunch of spam and less actual topics. If it is then nobody will use the forums.

Remember the dark age of 3dsplaza where the mods were overly opinionated and closed every thread where an argument was about to start? They disregarded anyone else's opinion and thought a bit too highly of themselves. I'd even go as far as saying they were micro managing.

imo, you should do what Nutsy said, so if another one disagrees, they can overule it, instead of waiting for another mod to do what Nutsy said.
