They are both almost the same, but goth. They don't all pretend to have been dissolved in agony. My goth friend says some pretty cringey things, but can act socially appropriate most of the time and blend in enough to be taken seriously.

Goth, all the way.

Emo's hardly have any depth to their subculture...it's more of a style than anything else. Just slap on tight clothes, fishnets, an FOB t-shirt, get a black fringe, and the biggest gauges possible.

Goth has deeper roots and has more "meaning" to it...it's the music, the art, the fashion, the interests, the lifestyle...Goths live for goth. You could be goth without dressing goth, because it's not just about the fashion or the edginess. It goes much deeper than that, and that's really what a subculture is supposed to be.

Goth is actually a legit culture (I can't think of a better word, maybe lifestyle but idk).

So, obviously goth. Not that I'd like to be one.

But we all know steampunk is the coolest.
