They exited the shop. Vanessa had tucked the owl away in her satchel. "Come follow me." Jerry said. She nodded and followed him through the busy streets to an alley. "What are we doing here?" She asked. He said nothing. He gently pushed her up against a wall and kissed her. She was stunned, so she did not protest, until he slid her tunic up. "H-hey!" She said, embarressed. She kicked him in the gut on impulse, and immediately regretted it. He stubled backward, into a dumpster. She looked in the dumpster, but Jerry had dissapeared. "What's going on?" She thought aloud. She stood for a moment, thinking. And then decided to return to the palace.

Jerry beat Meredith by four minutes. And he didn't wait for her. He simply walked inside the palace and headed for Vanessa's room. He wanted to see if she was there, because he wanted to apoligize for missing their 'date'. He peeked in her room, but she wasn't there. He decided to look around the palace for awhile. where could she be?

Vanessa had revisited the pool. She lay on the bottom of the pool, thinking to herself. What happened to Jerry? And.. Why did he touch me? She wondered these thoughts and more. While she was underwater, Jerry was looking through the palace. He passed through the infirmary, the servants quarters, everywhere. Until he decided to simply go back to his room. Coincidentally, Vanessa decided to go see if he had returned to his room yet.

Jerry made it there first. He sighed and sank onto his bed, exhausted. He started to close his eyes when Vanessa walked in. She had dryed off and was back in her tunic, but her hair was still wet. Jerry didn't notice her quitly walk in, so he closed his eyes. Vanessa sat down on the bed next to him and sighed. He opened his eyes and stared into her curious face. She had startled him, and all he could do was lay there, staring up into her face and blush. "I'm-" He started to apoligize, but she touched her finger to his lips to shush him. "I'm sorry I kicked you." She said. He gazed at her, confused. "Kick me? You never kicked me.." He said. Now she looked confused. "I never made it to the marketplace." He said. "But.. But I saw you." Vanessa said. "It wasn't me. Honest. I was up in the mountains on business.." He said. "Hmm.." Vanessa said. Puzzled. "Let's just forget about it for now. Okay?" She brushed her hand through his hair and smiled. "Okay.." He said.

The ripple had grown larger. Opening up and releasing a host of different characters. Merkle and Garry were off a ways in the woods, asleep. They never noticed the creatures seeping forth through the ripple.

Jerry awoke to screams of terror. He jerked upright, Searching the room for Vanessa. Gone.. He thought. He leapt out of bed and dashed out the door of his bedroom, and watched as a servant got slaughtered by..

Himself.

He stared at in exact copy of the servant man. No differences, save the green eyes. The doppleganger shrieked and lunged, but Jerry jumped and bashed his knee into the fake servant's skull. It crumpled, and dissapated. "What the heck is going on?!" He thought aloud. He dashed down the corridor, searching for any sign of Vanessa. He passed a balcony and backed up, looking outside.

The marketplace was a sea of terror. All around, exact copies of one person mauled the real one. All around, he saw terror. Death. Chaos. But the thing that was the most frightening was their leader. He floated above them. Jerry stared, mouth agape.


He stared at himself.
