Hello, everyone. In a final attempt to become a newsposter, I've created this-a review of the 3D Classics version of the original Kid Icarus.

Graphics
The graphics are just what you'd expect from an old game-Simple 8-bit sprites. And that's just the way I like it. The 3D enhances the graphics as well, making the sprites pop out in true form. Very well done, 1980s Nintendo.

Controls
Well, the controls are pretty simple, but there's one flaw. You switch weapons with the Y button, a control you'll constantly forget due to its lack of need. However, as previously said, the rest of the controls are simple: A to jump, B to use your weapon, and Left and Right on the D-Pad to move. The simple controls make it easy, but the one flaw hampers it a bit.

Music
The beeps and boops of the music in this game are easy to remember, but it gets a bit repetitive. The music for each area in a section of the game is the same, excluding the fourth area, which has its own music. But, who could forget the timeless classics such as the Underworld theme? No one could forget those themes. However, nostalgia doesn't help repetition too much.

Oh, boy. Where to begin. Well, let's start with the health bar. The health bar is incredibly small. Only a few hits can kill you. And with hundreds of enemies out to get you, that can get pretty annoying. You'll have to get a pretty steep amount of points to make it larger. Then, there's the Reapers. Oh, the Reapers. When they see you, they summon their Reapettes to chase you. You'd think that you could avoid them to prevent that, right? Wrong. Most Reapers are placed right where you're forced to tread, taking up platforms you'll need to climb to progress. This makes for a dangerous situation. Then, there's the Shemums. These little snakes are the most common enemy. And that means you'll see them a lot. Unfortunately, they'll pop out of nowhere at the most inopportune times. That means they'll fall out of the sky and injure you when you least expect it. Now, we come to the map. The map is, at first, completely nonexistant. You'll have to buy a pencil and paper for the map to be there. Yup, that's right. You have to buy the tools to make a map. That, in my opinion, is unfair. We may now have grown up as a "sissy" generation when it comes to videogames, but not having a map from the beginning and having to buy the tools to make it is pretty annoying to me. The final point of annoyance is the fact that there's almost no way to replenish your health during a section save for a Drink of the Gods somewhere. You'll often find yourself having to spend your limited amount of hearts to buy a Drink of the Gods, or searching through an entire dungeon looking for the hot spring. Survival? More like dying a thousand deaths before even making it to the end. With no checkpoints, this game becomes a serious pain.

Overview
Well, as you can see, this game has its flaws. A button that's never used, repetitive music, and bad gameplay. These things add up. The problems pretty much ruin the experience. You'd think that because the game was great back when it was made, that it would withstand the test of time. However, it really doesn't. You could try getting past these bad occurrences and enjoy the game, but there's not many things that you can say are "positive" about the game. I apologize to anyone over 30 who found this review via Google Search, but this game seems to be one of those games that just doesn't hold its own after this many years. However, it's not that bad. I'm sure you could tolerate it. It'll surely catch you with its platforming-adventure style of gameplay, and the bosses are always interesting. It's not the best, but it's not the absolute worst either. Trust me, I've seen much worse.
