So I downloaded the demo on the North American eshop today.

You aren't exploring the streets of New York in the demo, you start off in a relatively enclosed area fighting off thugs and trying to capture the Black Cat. The gameplay I feel is a huge step up from Edge of Time, Spider-Man swings around very smoothly and enemy framerates are no longer down the crapper. Fighting involves a lot of strategy, dodge and use that to counter attack with the touch screen, punch with Y, spray webs with A. Holding buttons or pressing them in the air will result in different attacks. Spidey now web swings and jumps with B, and Beenox wisely used L and R to move the camera horizontally, a huge improvement over Edge of Time's D-pad only control. Beenox has greatly improved the wall crawling mechanics, Spider-Man will sleekly climb those walls and no longer get stuck like he used to. He may move through vents with the exact same animation from Edge of Time, but he does it a whole lot faster. Web rush is nice too, you really need to use it at the end of demo boss fight.

The character models look nice, especially Spider-Man, with lots of nice textures going on in his costume, but the Black Cat just looks terrible. The environments are a bit sparse too. It's not that bad though, and I did find myself enjoying the 3D. The game seems to use the same graphics engine as Edge of Time, with some slight tweaking.

Yes, and you have voice acting. It's no Kid Icarus: Uprising, but it's not going to kill you.

So yeah, this is a demo worth downloading and you should enjoy it. The demo didn't answer all of our questions about the 3DS version, but it's a start.

You have to climb the wall and go to the office in the main room. Then look for the red vent in the office @Ron1212

The demo was good , but the smoke and fire effects were REALLY crappy. Like when the subway crashes.

Yeah, poor animation on those.

That wasn't a cut scene. Like Edge of Time, it will probably have the HD console version cut scenes.

I'm really leaning towards getting the 360 version now...

Edge of Time was worse, Spider-Man would get stuck in the floors and walls. There was also a glitch that made one of the bosses freeze in place.

Oh, and none of Nintendo's platforms will have a free-roaming TAS-M game. Which sucks. I knew the 3DS wouldn't have it, but the Wii? Spider-Man 3 and Web of Shadows had free-roaming on the Wii. Anyways, looks like I'll be getting the 360 version for sure now.
