-Bigger screens
-Better start, select, and home buttons
-DS games actually look good on it
-Better 3D slider
-More comfortable stylus
-More comfortable design
-Top screen can lock in two places
-Reduced glare

XL wins. Granted, if you already have a regular 3DS, no reason to upgrade, but if you don't have a 3DS at all or want to replace it, go XL.
