The review didn't really try to be open and professional.
Not to mention a 5, according to IGN at least, is "mediocre," not "garbage."
And there is a fine line between being disappointing and being "rubbish."
Good attempt I guess, but this review needs a lot more balance.
You basically tore the entire game to shreds because of the missing RPG mode, but isn't this the first online MT game? That should at least have partially made up for that. Based on your review I was feeling like the score was going to be closer to a 6 or 6.5.
As for why I haven't been reviewing...I'm not sure I can do the best job I can, I think I go too easy on most games.
Now you haven't gone easy on this game, but you can't just dish out bad scores left and right, because if a game is really THAT bad (I'm talking 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's) chances are you haven't and won't buy it.
It should also be noted that if you buy something, you'll often think more highly of it than something you borrowed or got for free, to reassure yourself that you didn't waste your money.

THaT1GuY9001 (2012-11-12 22:37:27)I actually completely agree with this review. I would have given it a 6 though.

ultraguy4 (2012-11-14 22:59:29)When you're reviewing, you also have to think about what the viewer thinks of the game. Like Tetris said, you ripped up the game because of story of all things... and lack of an "RPG mode?" The hell is that anyway?
BRING ME YOUR VIRGINS.
WWTEpicFail (2012-11-14 23:53:55)I agree with Ben. This is a good game but the stupid part is that you have to get outfits and pay for it. Another thing is that you can't get much coins in the mini-games. It would be cool if they let you get coins when you beat a computer in Exibition mode.
But of course, they have to have communication errors here and there + lag. I would give this game a 8/10
Pros
-Miis
-Outfits
-Unlockable Characters
-Coins
-Shop
-Star Versions of Characters (Not Miis.)
Cons
-Internet Lags
-Don't get much coins each minigames
-Buy alot of stuff
-Not much cups
-Would of been cool if there was other characters
BioMan8 (2012-12-03 03:15:28)An RPG mode? How would a game like Find Mii work in tennis? While we're at it, if you don't compare it to the rest the game should have at least an eight...

"Camelot has always made awesome and compelling Mario tennis games. Can this new entry in the series add to Camelot's legacy?"
I have got many requests to review this game, so I guess this makes my third review so far as a Newsposter. So, shall we begin?
Story
In this part of the game, I was far disappointed. In this game you just play as the beloved Mario characters and participate in tournaments. There is no RPG mode like previous games. And there is really no purpose to keep on playing this game for more than 10 hours due to no real story, this game was bad compared to Camelot's previous games. I thought of his title to be rushed, I would have loved it if Camelot added an RPG mode, but as they say beggars can't be choosers. I feel as if they just made this a multiplayer game, which moves me to my next topic.
Multiplayer
The story may be a serious bummer, but the multiplayer is much more enjoyable than what the story has. You can grab some friends or go to the worldwide option and start hitting the courts with intense multiplayer action. Just like Mario Kart 7, you lose and gain points depended on if you won or lost, but they added a worldwide leader board in this game so every month you can see where you stand in the world. But just like Mario Kart 7, it can lag like hell and ruin your time and cost you some matches.
But the good thing, is that this is the first multiplayer Mario Tennis game, so I guess the brings it up. Maybe RPG in sports games isn't so much as long as there is solid multiplayer.
^Multiplayer Fun
Gameplay/Controls
The controls in this game are so easy to pick up on and are so convenient. You may try to remember all the button combinations for certain shots, but they added a touch screen option so you don't need to remember anything. So in a tennis match when your opponent hits back a shot, an area might be lighted up with a certain shot which shows if the shot is advantageous in that certain spot. Pretty much, it helps noobs with strategy. And also, you should note that in gyroscope mode, your player automatically moves to where the shot will land which is very annoying in online mode with noobs who have no skill at the game. Note that these are very easy to learn controls.
^Touchscreen controls
Customization
Did I mention that you can also play as your Miis in this game and customize them to make them awesome in matches? Well Camelot did a horrible job at this customization stuff. Whenever you win or lose, it does not matter, you unlock an item in the shop. You then have to buy the stuff you unlocked, I find it really stupid. You could have made the shop full from the beginning and you get currency only if you win a match, but Camelot just had other ideas. And the customization is so hard to understand. Every stat is represented by a pie chart, and it is really hard to notice change. It would have been way more easier to represent change and stats in numbers. So, you may really never know if your Mii is better than Bowser and Mario combined. Camelot did not do to well, hopefully in the next game it is better
Graphics
This game has pretty good graphic for a modern Mario game. I can compare it to 3D land graphics. Not the best on the system, but pretty good. The 3D also works very good, but note that. In gyroscope mode, 3D is off. Overall this is the only good thing you can see in this game.
^Good graphics. BTW I have not mentioned it, but the game has mini games you can participate in to get some cash. Just saying from experience, this minigame is so hard.
The Verdict
Camelot may have added in a few mini-games along like the sidecrolling Mario mini-game that gives you more cash and improves your skills, but this game has a lot to improve on, maybe this wasn't the best, but multiplayer is good. I hope Camelot improves in the next game.
Final Score: 7/10
Pros
+Easy Controls
+Good graphics
+Multiplayer is okay
Cons
-Story
-Customization
