Hello! Today, in a segment I like to call Regional Rarities, in which I discuss absurd revisions and differences in the releases of a game in different regions, we'll be discussing one of the strangest ones yet: a game called "The Real Ghostbusters", or, at least, that's what it was called in the US.

This game was released in the US in October of 1993 for the Game Boy as a remake/port of the arcade game with the same name. As the title suggests, this was a Ghostbusters game.

However, in the Japanese and European versions, this game was made completely differently for completely different game series, but made on the same engine with most of the same graphics!

The European version, released in 1992, was made as a Garfield game, called Garfield Labyrinth. You can assume what the game was about from the title.

Along with that, the Japanese version, released in April of 1993, was the fourth installment of the Mickey Mouse videogame series! It was appropriately titled Mickey Mouse IV.

In fact, Kemco, the company that created the game, even had plans for it to be a Kid Klown game! But, sadly, that idea was later rejected and Kid Klown remained just a hapless unused sprite within the game.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I can honestly say that this is probably one of the worst cases of extreme regional differences I've seen. As far as I know, no other game was completely remade for each region.

Do you have any gameplay screenshots?
The secret shall be shared. PM for more info.
