I just figured this out, but in 2001, a company called Stealth made "Sonic the Hedgehog GBA". Download it here. (Must have a GBA Emulator, converted to ZIP by me) It was a great port, fast, just like the Genesis. It also had secret characters. (For Tails, Hold A and press start. For Knuckles, Hold B and Press Start. Also, to go to Labyrinth Zone Hold L and Press Start)

EDIT: I just realized that the reason the Labyrinth Zone cheat is because after beating Green Hill Zone Act 1, 2, and 3, you're thrown back to the title.

Then, you know how downhill The Sonic Team (SEGA) has gone lately? Well, in 2007 Sega STOLE the game, made it slower, removed the secrets, redid the sound, and just simply screwed up.
