pikarceus (2013-04-29 08:40:55)8.8 (Great) seems really high based on the context of your review. It read like a 7.5 (Good), imo. But your review, your score.
I'll get the game on PS3 if it gets really cheap, but I'm too busy with other games to make it a huge priority.
3dMan10 (2013-09-15 21:03:00)How do i be a newsposter

Hey guys. It's Ron1212 here today reviewing Spider-man for the Wii U.
Note that while I said this review is for the Wii U version, some of this review also applies X-Box and PS3 versions, however I will be going over the exclusive Wii U features, and the overall score will be for the Wii U version.
When the Spider-Man reboot movie was announced, many were excited. Most for the movie, but some, for the game. Of course, for every Spider-Man movie, there has to be a game, proven with Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films each getting a game of it's own.
But something is different this time. Not only the new Spider-Man, but the fact that Beenox has taken over Spider-Man games and totally re-defined what they are starting with the game Shattered Dimesions.
Beenox's Spider-Man games have always been something, and that's why Spidey fans were excited for a new, web slinging, action packed, free-roam Spider-Man game, different from the last 3 movie games. And let me tell you something...the fans got what they wished for.
The Amazing Spider-Man is an enthralled experience unlike any other. You can explore Manhattan in new ways, and along the way you make your way though an inducing story-line that takes place right after the movie.
STORY
You start along side Gwen Stacy as Peter Parker, both of you "sneaking" into Oscorp tower. The reason is because Gwen thinks Alistair Smythe is up to something fishy. You both discover that the cross-species project, an experiment in which animal DNA is transferred with a formula Peter found into a human's body (much like what happened to Spider-Man and the Lizard), is still being continued.
Gwen Stacy on the left, Smythe on the right.
The plot's conflict sets off as some of the cross-species monsters, such as the Lizard, Rhino, and the Iguana, break loose. It leads to a contamination, or a virus, spreading out amongst New York, and eventually turning innocent civilians into hungry, raging, cross-species monsters. And what's worse is that Smythe's robots are determined to eliminate all cross-species....which means Manhattan is doomed for good....
Unless Spider-Man saves them.
Each chapter is pretty much the same, and it gets pretty repitive, do this, take out them, sneak past that, when I feel the only levels that truly make up this game are levels like the St. Gabriel's Bank Robbery-the level that was included in the 3DS demo of the game. Other levels that stand out occur near the end of the game, but I won't spoil that for you.
All in all, the story continues the story of the movie, and also sets base for the next installment of Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man movies. It's an excellent general story, but it has it's low points. However, be warned. The game reveals major plot points of the movie. So go see the movie first.
GAME PLAY
The gameplay will feel familiar to many players-punch punch punch, dodge, do some more punching, web a guy's butt and spam it against the ground.
In levels, you have to choose to either stealthily take out opponents by webbing them to the ceiling, or disrupt the common peace and quiet and take out each enemy with your fists. The stealth mode is fun to use, but it's nothing new.
What's cool about this game is the new "Web Rush" feature. Using this, you can slow down time, choose exactly which building/area/pole/enemy you want to sling to, and go there. In levels, you do the same thing, only this gives you an advantage for taking out villains. You can also use "Web Retreat" if enimies are just to hard to beat.
All in all, the gameplay mechanics are nice, but let's get to graphics. Shall we?
GRAPHICS
The graphics in this game are great. I've noticed no difference between the consoles, so it's pretty much the same.
One thing l like about roaming around in New York is the sun. The virtual sun actually hurt my eyes once. No joke. I turned my camera to it and the graphics looked so real, I was almost like I was actually there.
SOUNDS/MUSIC
The music in this game is nice, and catchy. It did play more than once often, but that's OK.
One thing I have against sounds is criminals repeating the same thing over and over again. It does get annoying, but only if you're slow at defeating enemies.
FREE-ROAM
Free-roam is back, as Spidey can swing and roam around Manhatten once again. Though your journey, you find more then 700 comic pages....YES, 700 laying around NYC with no clue where they are until you get to a certain amount of comic pages. Collecting these unlocks real comics for you to read at your own pace.
Free-roam in my opinion has never been better. With the new web-rush feature, you can get to places faster, and much easier.
WII U EXCLUSIVE FEATURES
The "Ultimate Edition" of the Amazing Spider-man includes all of the DLC, which is 5 challenge packs and two exclusive costumes. This is good, as it brings extra fun to the game, but I can't stress how lazy the developers were with the Gamepad.
See first off all, practically the only use for the Gamepad is to look at your map and to play gamepad only. But the thing is, there's a menu in which you upgrade your suits and powers and stuff. But you have to interrupt the game, look down to your gamepad, and keep tapping and tapping the screen as 80% of the time it won't pick up your stylus taps.
Why couldn't you do it during the gameplay? It would be so much easier.
Conclusion
Overall, this game is great. If you're a big Spidey fan, then get this game. It's actually only $40, so it's a bargain you can't miss. However, things such as lengthy loading times and glitches could harm your gaming exeperience, but Just by a little.
This game will keep you running for a while, and that's just the story mode.
I highly recommend this game, it's a new installment in the Spider-Man video game franchise, and it will change the future of new Spider-Man games.
