I play Manic Digger, a free clone of Minecraft.
I have a Server too: Nisc3d's Survivaltown.
It's the perfect alternate of Minecraft, if you can't buy it or whatever.

The craft(s) would be unlocked by completing certaint quests, otherwise it wouldn't be very fun.

And you could have a quest where you crafting book gets stolen and you have to find it.
