I'm a retro game collector. My name is Retron. What a weird name, but it fits with what I do. I usually go to this store called EMERALD CLASSIC downtown. But I was searching online and found a new store, and it had near-mint condition games. So I drove there. Worst decison of my life.

When I arrived, I saw a wrapped game that said SONIC 5 PROTOTYPE on it. I have no idea. It appeared to have the art of Sonic & Knuckles Collection. It said SEGA PC on it. Was Sonic 5 planned to be a game on computers but was scrapped? I picked up the game and went to the register. "A-Are you sure you want this?", the lady at the counter asked. "I am very sure.", I replied, unsure. I paid the 20 dollars and left. I drove home and unwrapped the game, like I usually NEVER do. I took out the disk and popped it in my spare laptop, just in case the disk ruined the drive or something.

The "SEGA!!!" scream went on, showing this was a game released before Sonic Mega Collection. The logo turned to a water drop and fell off the screen. It cut directly to the title screen, not mentioning the Sonic Team. It strangely played the Sonic Mega Collection title screen music in reverse. I hit enter. It just had SONIC, TAILS, AND KNUCKLES on the screen. Then they went to the bottom, went further apart, and showed the character on top. I picked Knuckles.

"Good choice. Now continue"...

It brought up a world, just like the first track in Sonic R. Free roam game. Bad idea. Sonic spawned. Didn't I choose Knuckles? I went in to the room where you need 50 rings in Sonic R. A big ring. I jumped in.

It seemed to be a harder to control version of Sonic 2's bonus stage. "Get 30 rings!" "Good!" "Get 70 rings!" "Goid!" Wait, "GOID"? A typo? "Ger 100 rongs!" What? "Giod1" "U get a caos emrld!" What? What were they thinking?

"Sonic got a Chaos Emerald!

Score - 000 (What?)
Rings - 100
Total - 1000"

Sonic jumped out of the ring and fell on the floor. The chaos emerald was stabbed into his back. Blood went all over the room. "Great, you've got the emerald of doom!" I noticed Knuckles on the other side of the screen. Had he said that? He picked up Sonic and threw him back in the ring. It just said "GREEN ACT 1". A 2D level. Good.

I played through the level. It was playing the Star Light Zone music.
