Satoru Iwata commented briefly on Nintendoâ??s E3 plans during an investors meeting earlier today. Along with statements suggesting that a traditional press conference wonâ??t be held, Iwata told attendees that the expo will be used as an opportunity to reveal details about Wii U games coming this year. Additionally, he said that Nintendo â??will attempt to use this yearâ??s E3 to make announcements in a new way that we have not tried before.â??

â??At this years E3 we will not be announcing a new hardware system, so E3?s primary mission will be to have [press, analysts] experience our software. Many people would like to know more about the titles for Wii U that will be announced. We will use the timing of E3 to focus on providing details about our Wii U titles for release this year, and intend to create opportunities for guests to the conference to experience them immediately. We will attempt to use this yearâ??s E3 to make announcements in a new way that we have not tried before.â??

Apart from this he also said:
"We decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past," Iwata said. "Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media."

This plain sucks. It's like Christmas morning without any presents to open.

Calm down, weenies. They'll just be making smaller-scale presentations throughout. It's not the end of the universe.

Everything has already been revealed in Nintendo Direct, so what are they supposed to show? A video of Mario picking his nose?

You always criticize whiny, over-obsessive Nintendo fanboys, so don't act like them, and focus more on other companies at E3 this year instead. It's not like you're an American pledging allegiance to Kim Jong Un, you're a gamer who may sway more to one side simply checking out the competition.

^What they're going to show?

Nothing much, except Mario Kart U, Mario U, Legend of Zelda U, Wind Waker HD, LoZ 3DS, Mario And Luigi 3DS, Monolith Soft's new game, Yoshi's Island 2, Smash Brothers 4....

I could go on, but I don't have the time.

calm down Ron you know they aren't going to show LoZ U yet. Besides they still going be at E3 just not doing that big presentation. Mario Kart U, Mario U are still going to be at E3 so we will be seeing gameplay footage just not in the usual format we get it. Nintendo will probably do some Nintendo Directs right before and after regular e3 in order to make sure they steal attention from the other E3 presentations

Pretty disappointing. But not surprising considering how lackluster their E3 2012 conference was.

Well, kind of like Man said. E3 will be a lackster.

It kind of is a smart move by Nintendo. They won't be showing as much as the competition leaving them the ability to take notes and plan things to out trump the others. Think of Nintendo as a ninja waiting for the right moment to strike while taking notes on their opponents feats and body position. Nintendo is also has a backup ace of spades card up its sleeve: Mario. Mario Kart U and a 3d Mario is releasing later this year so if the sit and wait strategy leaves a bad taste in their customers mouth they have something to fall back on.
I'll drop in when I get the time. -Red

I'm fine with that.
