There are four dimensions. Each with it's own way of time and space. Each connected by a large expanse of bottomless sea. Each governed by a different ruler. And, each at war with one another.

The first war was between the Alternative Dimension and Earth. The A-dimension started leaking into Earth shortly after the discovery and invention of mirrors. This was stopped due to the space-time continuim being slowly torn in the A-dimension.

The second war, was between the Dream Dimension and the Nightmare Dimension. Each thought of the other as enemies. And, naturally they were. This war was stopped when both dimensions decided a truce, because dreams and nightmares needed to co-exist, otherwise they would both fall apart due to the lack of imagination.

The third war, was between all four dimensions, and this war, is the current one. It started, after the discovery of number five.

The Illusion dimension.

Creaaaaak..

A cell door opened, and a woman was shoved in. The door slammed behind her with a loud bang. She was sweating, and taking quick raspy breaths as she realized what she had done. She had predicted doom. And them. The idiotic military had locked her away in an asylum for it.

Boom!

She heard screams of terror above, and smiled to herself. They would see. They would feel. They would experience the coming doom that they had brought upon themselves.

"Please Jerry!" Vanessa pleaded. He had just given the command to open fire. They fired cannons at the shoreline of the greatest city in all of the dimensions.

Atlantis.

The fabled city of Atlantis was soon going to be destroyed if Jerry's fleet kept up the assault. "Please!" She pleaded again. Her hair was unkempt, and her wrists were chained behind her back. She was literally on her knees, begging him to stop. "Cease fire." Jerry said. "Look at your great and powerful civilization now, princess." He said angrily. She gazed at the shoreline. The destruction had caused fires and continuous explosions throughout that part of the city. People would survive, but they would remember this day for the rest of their lives. Vanessa slowly stood up. Hands still shackled. "Please Jerry! My father... Step-Father didn't order them to attack!" She tried to explain. He glared at her, nearly kicking her down, but restrained himself. She tensed, waiting for him to hit her. Afraid that she'd be sprawled on the deck any moment. "Four ships. That's all I need." He said aloud. He grimaced at the destruction he'd caused. He didn't want to do it. But, retaliation was necessary.

Some people were screaming and running for their lives, while others cowered and waited for a second barrage. The king looked down on the city and frowned. "She has failed.." He muttered. The military was not prepared for such a bold attack. It took them hours to fully prepare a defensive assault.

It took minutes to load a cannon.

Vanessa waited for Jerry to order the second barrage. Waiting for what seemed like forever.

She waited for at least three hours. Sitting on the upper deck, watching the turmoil in the city before her. Jerry was belowdecks, discussing something with a friend. She paced back and forth, wondering how she could get out of here. Jerry came abovedecks and ordered the second barrage. He looked tired. And his expression was grim. Vanessa collapsed and started crying. It was her fault for not reaching him soon enough. Her fault for not trying to save them. Her fault..

Her fault..

They ceased fire, and Vanessa watched as one of the taller skyscrapers collapsed.

The woman in the asylum laughed insanically as the screams and shouts of terror grew louder. Soon she would be free. Soon she would escape. But not yet. No. She must wait for the right time to do it.

Jerry was preparing a landing party, and Vanessa was offered to come along. "No.." She protested. Jerry pulled her up and lead her to the boat. "You don't have a choice." He said. He sat her in his boat. It was just them. The other crewmen boarded two other boats. "What're you gonna do?" Vanessa asked fearfully. She looked up at him and watched as he lowered the boat into the water. It landed with a small splash, and then he started up the motor. "Drown you." He said. His voice dripping with sarcasm. "I'm serious." Vanessa responded. She hated herself right now for making him so mad. For not warning him. "What would you do, had your city been attacked for no reason?" He asked her. He looked her in the eye, and stared her down. She broke his gaze and sat quietly, for she would've done the same thing.

They were approaching the city at a fair pace, making sure to land on the correct side. Vanessa heard a loud boom, and then Jerry pushed her face down on the deck. "Flack!" He yelled. The other boats engaged evasive maneuvers, but Jerry wasn't so lucky.

Their boat was hit, and Vanessa was thrown into the water. She tried desperately to swim, but her hands were still bound behind her back. Jerry plunged in after her, swimming as fast as he could, and caught up to her. He pulled her up, and broje the shackles. "You owe me one!" He said as they reached the overturned boat. They were picked up by another of the landing skiffs, and soon reached the port. Gunfire and grenades exploded around them, and Jerry was careful to keep Vanessa out of the line of fire. "Take this." He said. He slipped off his Jacket and handed it to her. She put it on and covered herself.

They made there way up through the city, trying as hard as they could to do minimal damage. Vanessa lead him to the palace tower, and Jerry ordered the crewmen to stay at the bottom. "We'll be back shortly." He said.

Jerry seems mean.

But he's simply angry with life at the moment.

Ok. Nice change of title.
Death is not the end. It is merely a step towards the unknown.

Jerry and Vanessa made their way up the stairs. Because taking the elevator in the midst of a crisis was hazardous. (According to Vanessa) It took them quite a while to make it an eighth of the way, so Jerry decided to fly them up most of the way. They were both pretty silent. "What're you gonna do?" Vanessa asked. They were almost to the top. Just a few more floors. Jerry turned around, and looked like he was about to say something. Vanessas ears started ringing, and Jerry's face paled. His face was a mask of pure shock, and he sank to a sitting position on the steps. His breath was coming at a rapid, shallow pace. "Jerry? Are you ok?" Vanessa asked. She knelt down next to him, and noticed the front of his shirt had started to turn red. "Jerry! You've been shot!" She exclaimed. She looked up the steps, and saw her step-father standing there at the top, holding a pistol. "What did you do?!" She cried. He said nothing, and leveled the pistol, ready to shoot again. Vanessa picked Jerry up and held him, shielding him against her father. "Move away. Or I'll have to shoot you, too." He said. She didn't move. She just stared at him defiantly. "Move away, Vanessa." He said again. "Never." She said. She glared at him, and he returned her stare. "Why are you protecting our cities destroyer?" He asked angrily. "You destroyed theirs first!" She replied. He didn't answer, so she assumed he was lying about them not attacking. "Last chance, Vanessa." He said. She didn't move, didn't waver. He pulled the trigger.

The bullet hit the jacket and bounced back, hitting her father in the leg. He growled in pain and fell down at the top of the steps. Vanessa leaped onto the banister, still holding Jerry, and slid back down the spiral staircase.

When she reached the bottom, Jerry had started to shake. She burst out the doors and kept running. She didn't turn back to look at the soldiers, she simply yelled "Come on!" At them. One of them radioed in a helicopter to airlift Jerry back to the ship. They rushed through the city. Jerry in Vanessa's arms, and no more than two dozen soldiers.

They made it back to the docks safely, and while the soldiers hopped into the boats, Vanessa took Jerry and boarded the helicopter. When they reached the ships, Jerry had gone limp in her arms. She was desperately hoping and praying he'd live as she rushed him into the infirmary. The nurse and doctor said she'd have to wait outside, and when they left, she punched the wall, angrily. Stupid dad.. Stupid me.. Stupid.. Stupid everything! She thought.

Vanessa waited for at least an hour, until she was let in. She gasped when she saw Jerry. His chest was bloody, his hair matted with sweat. He was bandaged, but he hadn't been cleaned yet. "Can I have a moment with him?" She asked the nurse. "I can't do that, miss." The nurse said. Vanessa smiled, "That wasn't a request." She said. The nurse frowned and shook her head, then left. She felt Jerry's forehead, and he had a fever. "Poor Jerry.." Vanessa said sadly. "It's my fault.." She scolded herself. She held his hand a squeezed, crying as she did so. "You know.. Your the first person I've ever known. I mean.. I've known people before, but never like I know you.." She said between tears. She sat next to his bed, desperately hoping he'd be okay.

The woman growled. Something.. Unexpected, had happened. And now she must wait longer for her release. She felt the future, and it would be soon. "Soon, my precious little pet.." She purred. "Soon."

Vanessa had sat next to Jerry for a good hour until he woke up. "Duck!" He yelled and jolted up. Vanessa was startled by the sudden recovery. Jerry took a deep breath and looked around, confused. "Where am I?" He said aloud. "In the infirmary." Vanessa said. She sniffed and smiled. Jerry would be okay! He looked in her direction, but didn't seem to see her. "Vanessa? Where are you?" He asked. She brushed her hand along his cheek. "Right here." She said. "It's so dark.. I can't see anything.." He said. He blinked, and squinted, not seeing anything. "Dark? It's pretty bright in here." Vanessa said, confused. "I'm.. Blind.." He said.

After a few days, Jerry's site returned a little. He could see light, and darkness. Vanessa was leading him around the ship. Jerry stayed silent for quite awhile. (mainly because he was recoiling from the shock of being shot) And life went on semi-normal. A few reconnaissance missions were sent out, and the city seemed to be doing well despite the recent attack.

The soldiers raided the prison. Stunning the guards and taking no lives. (on Vanessa's orders) Their sole mission was to find and retrieve an enchantress. "They are coming.." She said. She smiled and walked to the cell door, right as a soldier appeared. "We're here to rescue you, ma'am." He said.

Jerry awaited their arrival on the deck of the ship. He sat next to the rail, listening to the peaceful sounds of the ocean. "It's beautiful." Vanessa said. Jerry assumed she was looking in the direction of the portal.
