It looks like a reboot of Sonic Xtreme, the cancelled Sonic game for the Sega Saturn. The gameplay and stage design also resembles Super Mario Galaxy 2, but Nintendo is working with Sega on this.

Stuffs 'bout it:

-Wisps of Sonic Colors will return. Somes will comeback, but there will be newer ones.

-The 3DS version isn't a Rush Ripoff, it's fully 3D just like the Wii U version.

-The Wii U version will feature augmented sense Wisps (Tilting, using touch screen etc). And it will also have an 2 player "assist" mode.

-The 3DS version will have special stages and exclusive Wisps.

-Sonic & Eggman will team up to fight the Deadly Six

-Amy, Tails and Knuckles confirmed to appear.

-The game will feature competitive online multiplayer modes for both versions.
