PS3 won't be meaningless, in fact, the best games of a system come out in its last years.

God of War, Killzone, and Persona 4 came out for the PS2 very late in its life, in fact the PS3 was out for two years when Persona 4 came out.

Don't get consumed by hype and trends, there is nothing wrong with buying late. Early buyers tend to get ripped off anyway.

To answer your question, I'd get a 3DS if you're into Nintendo and more niche Japanese games. PS3 if you like more variety, competent online and graphics. Both are pretty cheap these days.

But then, your PS3 games are useless when you get a PS4.

Get the 3DS, then the PS4, you can save up till more and better games comes out for the PS4.

I'm a little tired of people constantly banging the backwards compatibility drum. How hard is it to move a few cords around? Doesn't really matter with consoles, your entertainment center will be cluttered regardless.

Also: I don't play any DS games on my 3DS, and haven't since White 2. People talk about BC all the time but rarely use it.

Also also: I wouldn't be surprised if you'll at least be able to transfer your digital games to PS4.

@pika
Backward compatibility is the best. You can't play Uncharted 3 on PS4. You hating on retro games?

But yea, transferring your digital games is a good idea, at least. Unlike the None, you can't transfer your games at all.

@Nintendude-By the time I get a PS4, I'll probably have gotten the Platinum on Uncharted 3. Plus there are multiple TVs in my house, it's not an issue.

And what do you mean by retro games? PS One and PS2 classics? Because a lot of those are downloadable.
