Sage Post

I was thinking about how a lot of people a while back were complaining about conversations going off topic in threads, and I was thinking that sage post might be a good idea.

If you didn't know, sage is a type of post that doesn't bump the thread or increase the post count. If a conversation in a thread got a little off-topic or a user wanted to post something as a joke that didn't really relate, they could somehow tag the post as sage (maybe through a check box under the submission form, similar to the "close this thread" one).
"But Wallace, off topic discussion doesn't belong anywhere! Why support it?"
The truth is that in conversation, topics come up that have nothing to do with what's on hand. There is no point making a new thread just for one or two posts carried on from another thread. Also, even though you're not supposed to do it, people post off topic all the time, then get mad when their post is deleted, and i've even seen threads closed because people were having an off topic discussion. Sage would fix a lot of issues, and I feel like it would be a good feature to have in the forums.

Bump, because this would still be cool.

It would help forum mods. But what if it's an old topic and they curse using the sage checkbox?

The "sage" post would open up opritunities (spelling) for bypassing.

Make a new thread, bookmark it, wait for it to drown, then cyber or spam in it.

Because of that, I'm against it.
