Well heres my first review and I hope you like it.

Army Defender



Graphics

The graphics look fit for this type of game. Everything is colored right and the environment in the background looks good during gameplay. Otherwise, the graphics look good and basic for this game.

Gameplay

For a mini game, the gameplay could really be addictive. Your goal is to shoot enemies and defend your base within the time given. But there is a twist to it. The enemies are colored red and green. So when you shoot the enemies, you have to make the bullets match the color of the enemies to shoot them. Otherwise you'll miss. Theres also help during gameplay. When you see a plane at the top of the screen, it will drop you a good weapon, but only to use for about 10 secs in game. Make sure not to shoot it down! Theres also some sort of nuclear bomb meter. It's supposed to clear all enemies on screen for you. As you kill enemies, this meter will fill and alerts you will a sound that is ready to use. As you progress through out the game, the levels will be harder and challenging with 10 secs each level added to survive longer. At the end of each level, you'll will presented your current score, what kind of enemies you killed, and bonuses to help you through out the game, like lives, how much bullets are fired, and how much nuclear bombs you can use in one meter. Overall, it's really great, addictive game as a shooter.



Controls

The controls are easy to use but you hold you DS sideways like how you had to play Brain Age. You pretty much use the touch screen the whole game, while using the A, B, Y, X, L, R, buttons or tap the machine gun to switch the color of the bullets color and tapping on the touch screen during gameplay to make the bullets go that direction. Like I said, the controls are easy to use but also can be rather frustrating at times somehow.



Sound

The sound is, again, pretty good for the most part. The music sounds good, sounds military like. And the sound effects are alright, when you shoot an enemy, it sounds alien like, but it's okay I guess. Otherwise the sound effects and overall the sound for this game is good.

Rating

Army Defender is a good, addictive, fun shooter game and uses unique controls. Overall, Army Defender is a good pick up at the E-Shop/DSiWare Shop.
