I like the current rep system as it is...but because forum topics need at least 20+ appreciation to gain 0.01% rep, this makes gaining higher reputation painfully slow...largely because it's difficult to make a creative thread that's worth appreciation.

To make things more interesting (and easy!), perhaps there can be an appreciation (Tumbs-up/Like) button on individual topic replies as well. This will make gaining 0.01% rep more common.

Not to mention, we all see that hilarious or clever reply which amuses us but isn't worth acknowledging in an entire off-topic reply...that's far too much time! Just slap that "Appreciate" button and you're good to go.

An additional idea....? (Many of you agree this addition wouldn't enhance the forums, so nevermind that. Thanks for the feedback though!)
Perhaps a "dislike" button, as well? 20 dislikes and you lose 0.01% rep....The pro would be that users might put more reasonable thought into their posts which might reduce the amount of spam, insults, uselessness, etc...The con of it is that it might bring us back to the reason the first rep system was changed (disliking just 'cause you can).

Either way, I really think a post appreciation feature would be useful.
