Best Gaming Generation?
WYoshiX2 (2014-03-30 17:27:46)Generations 4, 6 and 8 (or at least what there is so far). I grew up with 4 and 6, while 8 is looking to be promising.

Still a Lugia.
WYoshiX2 (2014-03-31 01:15:19)I'd really appreciate 8 more if it actually brought something more interesting into play. Seems more like OOOH MOAR GFX N SHOOTERS in the gaming aspects of the new consoles.
I liked Gen 5 too, but not as much as 4 and 6.
Still a Lugia.

Nin10dude789 (2014-03-31 14:34:42)GameCube, and PS2 were the best.
Seeing Sega die in the 6th gen was actually very terrible, but then seeing their games on a Nintendo system was a shock.

pikarceus (2014-04-01 02:18:52)Gen 5 was terrible. The quality of gameplay actually took a step backwards if you ask me, as the basic 3D gameplay was so primitive. Not to mention the games look terrible. SNES games (In general) have actually aged better than N64 games. Ass controls, super ass graphics, almost everything in those games suck now. PS2 games look bad nowadays but you get used to it, N64/PS games look absolutely awful the entire time.
I think gen 7 is actually the best, even though people stereotype it as having nothing but shooters.
So much good stuff in gen 7, not to mention it was also the largest leap since the 2D to 3D leap. Also the longest gen. So much good stuff and gaming really came out as an entertainment media that could rival movies.
Oh, and gen 8 looks great too. I'm guessing with the PS4 we are going to see a surge of revivals in series that have either been dead or just plain crappy as of late. (Final Fantasy)
DrakeJericho (2014-04-01 02:44:28)^ Well why would you expect 1080i graphics on a console from the late 90s?
Amatsuki (2014-04-03 20:10:15)I bounce all over the place from generations of consoles, I started with a sega genises, then a gameboy, then years later, xbox, ps2, DS, Dsi, nes, N64. Yeesh.
Probably sleeping, probably eating.
pikarceus (2014-04-05 16:57:52)@Tetris-I guess I should rephrase that. Gen 5 was necessary as a stepping stone to where we are today, but most of the games from that era are almost unplayable nowadays. Metal Gear Solid and OoT are stand-out games and most gen 5 games have aged far worse.

TheIronMadden (2014-04-06 11:45:18)Generation 5 had decent games. I grew up playing games like Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros, and both Sonic Adventure games, and games like Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil hold a great legacy to this day. However, I would say Generations 6 and 7 were better. The games have made a great improvement in gameplay, controls, and graphics.
However, for it's time, the graphics for the Nintendo 64 and PS1 were practically revolutionary. Even though there were 3D games before then (Star Fox, Doom, etc), it was the first time it didn't appear to be a bunch of 16 bit pixels.
You won't see me here, but you might find me if you look in the right places.
