I have tried with .jpeg, .gif, and .png. Every time I attempt to change my profile picture, it claims that it is an invalid file extension. Keep in mind, my current is a .png, and worked flawlessly.

How many times have you tried?

Maybe you need to select a different picture.

Each of the different file types were completely different pictures.

The file must be a .jpg file. Any other image file does not work.

It takes a bit for profile pictures to update.

Use a .jpg/.jpeg and after uploading, clear your browser's cache.

It happens to me. What I do is reload the page after a minute. As Meia said, it takes a bit to realize you changed pics.

I've referred to this thread multiple times after the whole ''Picture upload failed: Wrong file extension!'' thing started happening to me. Needless to say I've had no success in fixing my problem.
I've changed the file type of the image I wish to use multiple times, and I've also tried using a .jpg version of it.
However, I get the same message every time without a change to my avatar. I've cleared the cache on my browser too.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can fix this problem? At least temporarily.

Way to bump an old thread.

Just try converting the file to a different format (simply renaming won't do) that would be supported by the uploader.
