I was asked out to prom once in 8th grade by some person in my math class I only interacted with a few times. My teacher started criticizing me when I said no. Maybe I should've given an explanation or something but I just flat out said "No" and walked away.

Is that considered rude everywhere or just my school?

In 8th grade I volunteered on behalf of NHS for the 9th grade dance. All I did was set it up and run around helping everyone. Then we (all the other volunteers) spent three hours relaxing and having fun, except for a friend and me. We both were wallflowers being forced to the dance floor. I'll volunteer again just to help.

I'll probably go to prom if I'm being forced against my will, but it'll be a difficult time to get me to dance.

Switch the punch bowl for blood. Then I pass out.

@AC Based on what you said, you stated no in a flat heartless way without any reason behind it, so yeah it can be considered rude.

I have a question.

Is it rude if I don't acknowledge people that try to get it on with me? It's happened several times (over the years, so no, I'm not a stud or anything) where there's a girl just too close and looking like she wants something.

Now, I'm not completely oblivious, I know what she wants.
She wants me to talk to her, but I can't talk. So I remain silent and patiently wait for the person to leave me alone.

Is that rude? Should I give out a pat on the back and a "there there" the next time it happens?
