Point is, Pokemon is THE biggest universe within the Smash universe. It's also the second biggest Nintendo videogame franchise. Actually, it's the second biggest videogame franchise, period. Furthermore, despite what I've said, the reality is that the proportion of playable Pokemon characters in Smash4 as well as the proportion of Pokemon stages is not as high as it was in Brawl. Whereas in Brawl we had 6 playable mons out of some thirty odd characters in total, we currently only have 5 in Smash four, and it's out of nearly fifty characters. That's without counting Mewtwo. If we do count Mewtwo in Smash4, then we'd have to count him in Brawl as well since his data is in the game.
The point is, in Brawl, Pokemon characters constituted nearly one sixth of the entire roster. In Smash4 it's declined to about one tenth. That means that Pokemon does definitely deserve a sixth rep, and a seventh. I even believe that Pokemon should have an eighth character available to play since this would mean that the proportion of Pokemon characters on the roster would match that of Brawl's. According to the numbers, Pokemon is underrepesented in Smash4. So if you want to go and say someone doesn't deserve to be in the game, then pick on characters that are either not popular, play minor roles in their games, or belong to a franchise that doesn't have many games or doesn't sell very well to begin with.
For example, Rosalina, Dark Pit, Palutena, Shulk, Dr. Mario, and Lucina.

As the title says, Nintendo is almost ready release the character Mewtwo as DLC for the latest iteration of the Super Smash Brothers franchise. I look forward to telling you about the character itself when it arrives, but until then, let's speculate on what we think the special DLC will include.
