carlos11 (2015-06-03 22:21:24)I actually am to blame for this, I was just hoping it'd be overlooked. But this is not my burden entirely. After all, I have limited control over what goes on in the chatrooms.
My response: The chat moderators need to step it up and know when to step in.

You do realize the rules have changed, right? Swearing isn't against the rules anymore, rather bypassing the censor is. So replacing bad words with emoticons isn't really anything mods can warn against. Same reason we don't/can't ban you for saying "wtf" or "gtfo". Mods haven't gotten soft, only the rules have.
I can't speak for everyone, but I don't let inappropriate topics last if I can help it. Every mod does their job differently, whether too strict or too lenient...you can't generalize us.
And finally, please stop bringing up "Plaza used to be like this" or "The past mods did this"...Those mods are gone, and Plaza isn't the same as it was back then due to rule changes....old Plaza is just a memory, the times have changed.
Sure, mods could always use some improvement, but I personally haven't seen a serious need for chat mods to pick up their pace.
Edgee (2015-06-03 23:22:17)"Swearing usn't against the rules"
Chat Rules
-Do not swear or bypass the censors.
Changing the word into an emoticon is bypassing.
"wtf" and"gtfo" should also be swearing. But you mods don't want to do it because no mod has stepped up to warn for it.
"I don't let inappropriate topics last
during the few minutes I get back on, but then I have to leave and you can go back to be bad publicly.
"Plaza used to be like this"
I'm talking about a couple months ago, not about "2011 3DSPlaza"
Yes Plaza is changing, but is that change good?
"I personally haven't seen a need ... "
Get on more.

The catch is, "
"No swearing" is to stop people from trying to bypass swears, or using them elsewhere.
"Wtf" and "Gtfo" aren't offenses because they can mean anything.
Wtf? = What's That For?
Gtfo! = Got this from Orlando
Personally, I agree that such things like "wtf" should be reprimanded, however SL said otherwise...not to mention, if those were censored, talk about really sucking any fun away.
I still remember that war over the use of "fgt", because users were using it to insult each other. This is what caused the rules to be watered down to "Reasonbly" civil and polite.
If it was 2014 Lani, I'd wholeheartedly agree...however, I've come to the realization that this isn't Club penguin...there can be a mild balance.
carlos11 (2015-06-04 00:30:31)Not to give myself importance, I don't mean to toot my own horn (lolwtf), but wasn't that last part because of me getting banned on two occasions?

^ I'm not entirely sure what happened during that time...seemed chaotic for everyone. I just remember complaining to SL about the "fgt" thing and then he added the censors and yet watered down the rule....seemed like he balanced it out.
carlos11 (2015-06-04 00:46:09)I remember challenging the standards of the chats because I wanted everyone to conform to what I was doing with the forums. It got me banned. And you're right, SL edited the rules before this happened. It's just that nothing really changed immediately after he spoke his mind about the rules and made tweaks, and nothing seemed like it was on the brink of change. The moderators didn't consider the amendment to the civil and polite rule when making decisions. They kept to the old rules.
For this reason, active resistance was necessary to bring about change. In my opinion, it was this persistent activity that paved the way to the changes we see today.

Destroiya (2015-06-04 01:05:27)Notice how some words are censored here and aren't at the chats.
I just exist at this point. Nothing too special going on.
Hansaki (2015-06-04 01:28:58)I can think of at least two. 'Fag' The c word. (Call me immature or whatever, I just don't like the word. Nor the first word for that matter).
My stage at hand, with guardians to keep me keenest.
I understand, the limits of the timeless meanings.

A couple months ago I would have gotten banned for one 'bad word' I would say. Now I go to the chats and these kids are talking about boobs and ass and are replacing obvious vulgar language with smiley emoticons and the mods just about 10 minutes after the conversation has gone for a while all they do is give out a public warn and leave. I even take advantage of this to harass newer users who think they can tattletale for small crap I do in the chat.
Do you also think mods are getting soft? Or have they given up on us? Are they afraid of doing their job wrong?
Just because some mods don't warn about certain things they shouldn't either? "
