Fire Emblem is one of, if not my favorite, Nintendo franchises. They have great gameplay, characters, settings, and... Plot?
Most games in the series have good stories, usually revolving around a treasure named Fire Emblem. Path of Radiance is no exception, focusing on a young mercenary named Ike. The game features a heartwrenching scene in which his father, Greil, is killed by his former student and the game's antagonist, the Black Knight. However, Greil not only could have survived, but defeated his student. Firstly, he chose to wield an axe against the Black Knight, who used a blessed sword, even though he was offered Ragnell, another sword and the only one that could harm him. Plus, axes are inferior to swords in the Fire Emblem series since the beginning. He then chose to use his weak arm to fight, which ended in his untimely demise. So: Why did he do this? Could he not face his student? Or did he want to die?
