Regulations don't necessarily mean that anyone's guns will be taken away. I think you're confusing the word regulate with something else. Regulations would insure that guns are only sold to and kept by responsible citizens who meet certain requirements or criteria. Also, this really has nothing to do with "rednecks" and I keep seeing that in this thread. So you guys either mean:
1. Anyone who values the right to own a firearm
or
2. Stereotypical southerners
Elaborate, because there are people who don't live in the South or hunt that value the right to own a firearm.

Technically speaking, the U.S does have gun laws...There are bans on assault and automatic rifles, a license is required (which includes a background check), guns must be concealed in public at all times, and some states have restrictions on magazine size...just to name a few.
So if you mean whether or not the US should ban gun ownership entirely (or limit it to hunting only)...they should not and, technically speaking, can not. The government is always burning pages of the constitution anyway, but nonetheless we should value all of our rights...once you let them take away one right, they can take away any other "rights" they want.

We need to quit focusing on "guns kill people", and rather the truth that "people kill people"...Teach better gun responsibility, don't ignore signs of mental health issues, enforce stricter punishment if you do use a gun for malice, etc etc. Banning guns is just putting a bandaid over a gushing wound that America has become. Free birth control, ban guns, pay lazy people with our taxes...none of these things are going to fix the real problems.
Guns aren't the problem...people are.
