(Wrote this for Valentine's day but never posted it)
Sebastian shifted on his feet, taking a quick glance around the room before he took a step forward, eyeing the tree slumped against the wall. Its branches were mangled, disfigured, broken in various places; barely hanging on to the trunk, lacerations carved deep within its bark. He really made a mess this time, didn’t he?
The man knelt down in front of the distorted figure, frowning once he pressed a hand to the rough, damaged surface, pulling his arm back and glancing down at the sap that had leaked from the wide gashes in its trunk. They oozed red, it had poured out onto the floor at his feet, patterns of deep crimson staining the dull, grey walls behind its decomposing frame.
“Oh, how unfortunate,†he chuckled, rising from the floor.
“Someone’s going to have to clean this up…†of course, it would be him. After all he made the mess, he was responsible enough to take the curtesy of cleaning up after himself. It would be rude to make someone else do it!
Taking a breath, Sebastian contemplated whether or not he’d pick the fruit buried deep inside the tree’s form. It would be difficult, the figure would become much more disarranged than before… however; just the thought of sinking his teeth into the most delicious of foods was much too inviting.
Finally, Sebastian made up his mind.
He turned, scanning the dimly lit room for any tool that he may use to harvest it; his first instrument had been lost inside the tree trunk and could not be pulled out, he was sure it had been broken.
Narrowing his eyes, Sebastian then let out a surprised gasp and took a few paces across the room where there sat a small stack of crates in the corner near the door, on top of it perched a crowbar. How convenient. He took a moment to admire the weapon, before he took it from atop the crates and casually strolled over to where the still mangled, mutilated body sat slumped against the wall.
Sebastian smiled, astounded by the trees beauty; though many would call him sick for such thoughts, he couldn’t help but find nothing but astonishment when he looked over the grotesque masterpiece. A picture of beauty, empty sockets staring back at him, dripping red and black onto the floor; a gaping maw broken and hanging just by the hinges, limbs twisted at unnatural angles with likeness to wings; this, to him, was a picture of only the most heavenly of angels.
Lowering himself back to the floor, Sebastian smiled at the tree one last time before he took a full-force swing at it, a disgusting snap sounding when metal met bone. The man drew back his weapon, then repeating the action of smashing it into the trunk of the tree until crimson had spattered onto his clothing, his face, covering his hands and his weapon, eventually tossing the instrument aside with a loud clang against the floor. His fingers curled into the hole he’d left, gritting his teeth and pulling it further open.
It sounded like… a wet squishing sound, but also cracking, tearing, a sickening noise that made your gut wrench in disgust, made you cringe even at the mention of it, however to Sebastian it was only the sweetest of melodies. One hand buried itself deep inside the entrails that blocked his way, pulling them apart with little to no difficulty while he grasped what he’d come for. He jerked his hand back, the unmoving corpse being yanked forward before falling back against the wall.
The object in Sebastian’s hand was… about the size of a fist, rounded in some areas but more deformed in others; he now held the most delicious, the most succulent, the most amazing fruit he’d ever eaten.
A human heart.
He brought it close to his lips, placing a kiss on the cold, unmoving surface, pulling it away and leaving a strand of blood still connecting his lips and the organ. He grinned, and chuckled, looking back to the corpse he’d taken it from.
“Don’t worry, love, this won’t be wasted… after all, I need to make something special for Valentine’s Day.â€
