Figured I'd finally make this, since nobody else cares enough to.

Discuss your views on art: What is your taste, what is your limit of tolerance, and what are some of your favourite SFP pieces? Don't forget to rudely assert how much better your obviously superior views are to everybody elses, cos that always works be somewhat decent and respectful ah, this is 2016 Plaza, that's never gonna happen again, is it?

I like all sorts of art, but my tolerance stops right before the point where people mess things up and defend their crappiness by calling it a style. 🌚

I don't really have a favorite artist though. I like things that have a glowy, mystical, and magic-y sort of feel and things that remind me of an early Saturday morning. Kinda specific. light tricks are my jAM

Or just insanely beautiful things.

I like simple, unique pieces, and multimedia pictures. I usually like art that depicts a person or feeling. I like this artist called Helena, plantimal on instagram.

@Spastic Monkey-Ostrich, this is a discussion thread, not a plug for my art, so it really doesn't belong there. You really would be that one person who actually needs this explained to you, wouldn't you.

As most of you probably know by now, my favourite painting is The Scream.

That being said, I can also appreciate modern art; my two favourite modern artists are Alex Ross (I'm actually glad someone else posted about him here before I could) and Tim Jacobus (the artist behind the classic Goosebumps book covers).

I also love computer-generated art, especially some of the older stuff, particularly the Minds Eye series (1989-1996). Back then, when the technology was still new, there was plenty of imagination; people could suddenly create and explore new worlds and things they couldn't before, and they let their imaginations run wild. Although primitive by todays standards, the Minds Eye series is still unique and interesting to look at. I recommend it if you have the time; all four movies are available on YouTube, and are only 30-60 minutes long each.

Say what you want, but I used to love the classic series Goosebumps when I was a wee lad. But some of the covers for them, man...



They look amazing to me. Sure, just like the books, there were some bizarre covers, but there were plenty of modern masterpieces adorning those covers.

I like a lot of Mark Crilley's manga art. I've learned most of my techniques from studying his work.
