Don't take things so seriously... Why?

I face hate constantly online. I feel like a lot of us do, but y'all know me. I like some controversial stuff. My Little Pony, FNaF, and I'm not a furry, but I'm a pretty hard defender of the Furry community, because they don't deserve the [stuff] they get. But I'm not going to pretend like it's the worst thing ever, because I'm actually a very happy person irl. Still, I'm pretty defensive when it comes to things I feel strongly about, and I've been called out on that like it's a bad thing. Why? Am I not allowed to defend my opinions? People keep telling me (for example) bronies are mostly autistic neckbearded sexual deviants. Obviously, try to call that out as complete lies, but when I do, I'm told I'm being too defensive. I of course then promptly, and indirectly tell the other party to "Shut the [unf] up".

And what's next is what I would expect to be the response to me bitching like this if it weren't what the thread were about.

Don't take things so seriously...
Now the reason for making this thread; my response.

Shut the [unf] up. People not taking things like this seriously is literally the reason bullying exists. People getting told that they're worthless (Actual word used several times against me) for liking what they like, doing what they do being who they are. Imagine that last sentence, but in real life, and amplified by ten. Because that [stuff] actually happens in real life, depressingly frequently too...

I can already see the replies... "There are much worse things in the world, like racism!" Well, ignoring the fact that bullies for bronies, furries or really anything unpopular can be as bad or even worse, see sentence 5.

You don't need to respond to them, because hypocrites are hypocrites.

I feel the same way but sometimes. Me, everyone who is always active on forums should know that I troll. Like I know I said something about bronies and furries but it's just a troll. Even if I do mean those things, it's an opinion.

Hey, the misc is what bithching about things like this are for.

Besides, just because they can't touch you, doesn't mean they aren't being assholes.

MLP, FNaF, furries, along with all other videogames, fandoms, tv shows, etc..aren't actually very serious. When someone takes entertainment to a serious, personal level, that's not exactly normal. It's one thing to enjoy and be a fan of a particular series, but MLP and FNaF and the like are typically known to have obsessed fans who take a normal fanship adoration to disturbing levels. Many people have negative reactions to bizzarre things like that....it's not normal and they're likely reacting to their confusion with hate.

Groups are always generalized by the disturbing actions of a few (because those are the ones everyone hears about). Now I don't think it's right to bully someone over something harmless like an MLP fandom, even if the person is uncomfortably obsesseed...but I'm just saying, I don't think any of that has anything to do with a lack of taking it seriously. You don't need to take non-serious things seriously to not be a butt.

So, you're not a furry, but you defend the "furry community?" What is there to defend? A ton of autistic losers masturbating to bestiality porn? You're super autistic my man.

If someone is passionate about something they have the right to talk about it, defend it, and engross themselves in it's community. Being told to not take it so seriously is kind of like telling someone to be miserable, and usually it's miserable people who say this. People always say the meaning of life is to give life meaning and if you find meaning by being a part of a community, or doing something you love, or fighting for what you believe in then you are living your life how you want to, that's a beautiful thing and if it brings you enjoyment and does not hinder others then you are entitled to it. Anyone telling you off for seeking enjoyment in something is someone who(as I said previously) miserable.

I will say there is nothing wrong with being passive, as being aggresive creates tension which creates problems, which creates the 2 sided arguments.

I'd also like to make a point that this is all online, I believe the whole reason "don't take it so seriously" exists is because online does not translate directly into real life, there is no need to be serious at all because you are not being affected at a physical level.

Lastly I'll say that if you really are bothered by what others say about you or a group you are a part of then you do have a right to defend, but if it bothers you so much you complain outside of the argument you may need to re-evaluate your self esteem, self esteem is pivotal to growing as a person and being an individual.

I was responding to OP in my first post.

Also I don't see how Lani is talking about me.
